Anyone Use HTC End mills?

Recommended Posts

HTC Tool brand was just added to my local distributor and just looking for any feed back.  They are the least expensive Carbide End mills I've seen.

They say the quality is great and HTC is one of the largest Manufactures but the price is unbelievable for American made in my opinoin.

Any feedback would be appreciated.  Here is an example price. http://www.tigertoolsupply.com/htc-carbide-end-mill-p/120-4500.htm

Just wanted to add they just gave me a discount code.

Thought I would share.  HTC10

Don't know what you'd be using them to cut but color me skeptical on quality....

I'd get a tool rep out for a couple to beat on and check their quality

Thanks JParis

Thats what I'm Thinking.  Run them on the not so critical parts and see what happens.

I guess HTC does a lot of private labeling so chances are I have used them in the past.

That's nice,  didn't know they made variable flute.  Is the price as low as their general purpose?

The end mill I used to get from them is called the Hot Mill. They were cheaper than the Hanita Varimill and had very similar performance.

Just checked out their website.. Holy crap that site is terrible!!

Let's see if this link works, this is what I used to use, again it was 5 yrs ago or more and it was around $40 at the time. Looks like it went up in price a little bit.

Thanks for the Info Jeff, very helpful.  That still seams like a good price.

i can get Hertel same size for $25, so probably worth trying

I can beat the snot out of a Hertel in 30 seconds that other tools will run many parts with the same speeds and feeds....

With that said, not everyone has a need to use their tools in the same manners

Stick with what works best,  I just can't believe I've been paying like 30% more for general purpose.

I ordered up some HTC to try out because they gave me 10% off.  Worth a shot.

Here is the discount code they gave me: HTC10

Matt,

Have you tried Gorilla Mills at all?

Been having very good success with them here.

I used the "Hot Mill" in the past, but you won't see them in this shop anymore. Initially we had pretty good success with them. Bought a fair amount. Then we started breaking tools left & right, running the same programs that they used to. After talking to a few reps around the country, we very strongly suspected that they went to a cheaper carbide blank, likely China sourced. Whatever the reason, having 2 "identical" but inconsistent tools costs more than having one good one.

Feedback on the HTC Cutters.  Tried them out and they seem to last as well as the other brands we were using and that price point. Win Win

Had an HTC break from a program error and compared the carbide on the inside to a Titan cutter and seems like the colors are a lot different.   Does anyone know what that means?

We had to cut 8 relief pockets in 64 steel plates.  These pockets were 3 inch deep.  2 years ago we ran the same job and each plate took 4 hours and 40 min to machine.

This time around we Used WhisperKuts from Dura-Mill and reduced the run time down to 27 min using dynamic milling.  Just thought I'd share.  Happy Boss.

paid for your Mastercam maintenance with one job B)

Never tried or even heard of HTC, but since names are being thrown around I would recommend Supermill.

Very high quality tools. Tool life in HTSA is great.

Supermill is Awesome! I also highly recommend these guys. Between Supermill, Helical, and Harvey, I get just about every need covered.
