OK, I am going crazy here.....

I just updated to 385.69 the latest driver....

Now, when I start Mastercam my system automatically turns off the Aero Desktop......previously, there was a setting you can set to turn it off...on this system I have always run with it on and it didn't affect me...so I am looking through the Nvidia Control panel and can find nothing...

Does anyone have a hint how I can disable this feature?

I'm running a K4200 on my machine at work

I tried some of the newer drivers and had lots of trouble

I've rolled back to 354.42 and all is well

I recently purchased the new P4000 for my home machine and it is worth every penny ($800)

the difference between my home machine and my work machine is night and day

With the exception of the video card the two machines are identical

I found this on the interwebs, it might help stop Nvidia from disabling Aero:

step 1) go to nvidia control panel
step 2) go to 3D setting
step 3) change tab to program setting
step 4) Add "dwm.exe"
Route in win7 (C:\Windows\System32\dwm.exe)
step 5) change option (monitor technology - fixed refresh)
step 6) enjoy g-sync with aero theme

  • 1 month later...

I am still having similar problems with my Nvidia M4000M graphics card in my Dell Precision 7710 laptop.  I am getting really poor performance with my menus opening very slow and my tool paths in my tool manager flashing white at me when when I start regenerating tool paths.  I rolled back my graphics card to 369.26 and same issues.  Mastercam is the only program I am having issues with.  Running Windows 8.1 64-bit and a display resolution of 3840 x 2160.  I have been struggling with this for too long so if I cannot solve it then I will look into sending the laptop into IT and asking for windows 10 to see if that will help.

Thanks in advance!
