My shop runs all Mazaks and we have 1 Mazak Variaxis J600. Normally we program it in Mazatrol, but I am trying some software to program it in g-code. The biggest problem is no one in the shop knows g-code.  The issue I am asking here is how to use g54.2 to index. The machine is not capable of 5 axis movement but we still can't get it to index correctly. It will index to the correct angle but the tool doesn't track to the correct place.

Would anyone be able to help us and guide us through to making good parts?

Sounds like the parameters are not set correctly. I would try running the sub through Mazatrol and see if by doing that it works. If it does then that tells you the EIA side of things are not setup correctly and Mazak will have to work with you to get the issue solved. You tool should track if the setting are correct. Do they work in G43.4 or G43.5 even though it is not full 5 Axis I would try them in 3+2 and see if they let you fake in if the machine will run them even though it is not a 5 Axis machine.

Edit, have you tried to use G68.2?

The G68.2 didn't seem to work at all. I've read other forums that the Matrix 2 control no longer uses the G68.2/G53.1 anymore. I'm not sure.  I haven't had time to try the G43.

This is a sample post of what we have. Could someone look it over and see if anything jumps out as wrong with it?

G54.2 is meant to replace G68.2 s what you read in your programming manual?

Either way I see a B-90., but what in the code index the head or table before that shift is called? A coordinate xxxxs if just that to shift your coordinates to a new position. I see the call is made, but what is the move that it is shifting for? What is your programming planes in Mastercam? Top/Top/Top or Top/Front/Front?

G43 is a not the same thing as G43.4 or .5 and not trying to pick things apart, but out job is to make sure we use the correct codes and outputs where needed. If not we got a crash coming.

When you reach out to Mazak applications about your issue what is their response to your problem?

I have never talked with Mazak applications. We always ran Mazatrol and never had a problem.  Do you have a phone number for them?  I don't see one online.

I feel pretty stupid with these questions but I am flying blind into this and there doesn't seem to be much training available for Gcode on a Mazak.

Thank you so much for any help.
