OK. I'll take a look again. Maybe I missed something. Sorry for the questions, but I am fairly new to Mastercam, and still sorting through some of the "housekeeping" details, including setting up multiple machines with different tool databases, etc. Thanks for the help.

From MasterCam 2017, switch on the button "Show Tool Manager option for text file import/export" in Advanced Config.

so: go into the advanced config menu in your mastercam folder, find the option and enable it.

this should then show the text file import/export option, not on the pc here now otherwise i would have left a picture of how here.

Reviving this older but highly important post - just to be clear - if I need to send a tool library to a client, I have to export it from the tool manager as a text file, and then my client needs to import it into Mastercam, where it will be saved as a tool.db file on their computer?

No.

If they also use Mastercam just send them the .db file...assuming you're on the same version, it'll open right up

Do a .z2g and check tool libraries for a programmed project or grab the tool library in the operation manager in a dummy file and that will help send them everything you have.
