Opening Solidworks Assemblies with Mastercam

We have an assembly in Solidworks that includes a purchased part that needs to get some clearance holes added to it in the CNC. We can't put the holes in the purchased part file or propagate them from the assembly level because this part will be used in other assemblies so we need it to be clean.

The problem is that when we opening this assembly in Mastercam, we get the part, but no holes!

Does anyone have advice on settings in either Mastercam OR Solidworks that would allow us to machine the assembly (as opposed to the part)?

Yup Assembly level features don't get recognized when opening an assembly....

You can either, as noted above save it out as a step file or save the assembly out as an sldprt file....both ways should get the features created at the assembly level.
