I just tried some old V8 files dating back to 2001 in MC2018 and they opened OK

They opened dirty, but regened without issue.

I don't have anything older on the PC

I have occasionally had issues with old V9 solid models not opening correctly in MC2017 and up

The work around is to open them in X or X2 save that and open the X file in MC2018

If you keep a copy of X on your machine you should be able to open any file you've got.
