Threadmill Comp not working 2019

Recommended Posts

Is this a 2019 Glitch? I am making a 1/8 NPT hole with my thread mill done this 1000 times. put it into 2019 and its not posting with cutter comp anymore.

I can work around it by changing my hole size on my computer but its a bit annoying.

Hi Dan,

Did you turn on Perpendicular entry on your entry page, I see your G41 on an arc move, make sure the Perpendicular entry is on and that will probably take care of the problem.

make sure

"start at center" is checked

turn off perpendicular entry.. and play with the entry arc size and backplot

make sure you are getting a small straight line move before the tool arcs into the cut

Then make sure Wear is checked

post and review the code.. you should be good to go

I guess this is the same issue reported here : http://forum.mastercam.com/Topic27285.aspx

I guess that's why I never have trouble with this

I don't like perpendicular entry because it slams the cutter straight into the stock

I use start from center and arc entry, making sure the arc is small enough to provide for a small straight move to

engage CDC

So If I turn perpendicular entry off My cutter comp does kick in. Which is great except for some reason Mazak can't comp on a helical move this is why I have to use the perpendicular entry. so yes it works but not for what I need it for.

I am guessing this is software based not post based as it has been working for me for many years up to this point.

If you read what Gocde put up he gave you a way to get the move needed to turn comp on in a straight move and not an arc move. Not ideal, but will help you get through it if you need to use 2019. Hopefully they get this fixed soon.

If the hole size is small enough and close to the thread mill size, follow Gcodes advise.  Make sure that "start at center" is checked and use a small enough arc entry and it will create a straight line lead in for you and turn comp on in that line.  You don't need to use perpendicular entry for there to be a small line segment.

For large holes - I'm not sure what the work around would be.
