npt id threading always cuts big

Im using Mastercam x4 and I have had this issue when using a canned threading cycle every thing looks good and when I get the program to the machine it always cuts the thread too big so I have to always put a -.08 in my offset and it cuts it perfect . The only thing I can think of is there is a 1/4" deep counterbore before the thread starts and when I program it I thread it like there is no c'bore , I have done it both ways one with the counterbore and one with out and they both end up having a -.08 in the offset has anyone else had this problem?

Use this on line Carmex app to get the drive diameter of your npt thread

drive your depth from the bottom of the c'bore and you should not have any problems

I machine hundreds of 1"-11.5 npt threads a week... I drive a Ø1.308 circle .993" deep

this is deeper than spec per our customer's request.

typical CDC on a complete thread is -.003

Cycle time is under 30 seconds in mild steels
