2D Dynamic not cleaning floor

2D Dynamic is not fully cleaning the floor of the part.

I have tried different step overs from 25 - 50% it just changes where stock is left.

I believe there is bug in MC when using an endmill with a corner chamfer.

If I just change the toolpath to use a square endmill it cleans the floor. If I use a an endmill with a 0.5 chamfer corner the floor does not clean up.

  Sometimes you can change your stepover a little like .01-.03 and it will clean it up. It could perhaps be a bug also.

What if you tell Mastercam that the end mill has a corner radius instead of a chamfer? Does it clean up then?

Or can you tweak the Toolpath Radius (not the stepover) a little bit?

Hi David,

 

Thank you for contacting us with your findings with 2D Dynamic and using a Chamfer mill.

 

This is now logged as R-18085 with your information so the developers can take a look.

 

A possible work around is to still use your Chamfer mill but label it as a radius tool with a .8 radius when programing. This is giving a clean floor. I did test this back to X7 and it appears this problem has been with us since then and maybe before then.

When using a chamfer mill mastercam uses the minor diameter to calculate the path.

To avoid this start with a square endmill definition then under Tip/Corner treatment select chamfer option.
