Can this chamfer be made without surfacing on a 3 axis mill?  All ideas appreciated.  Or should I tell the customer it's not possible.............

TEST.mcam

3d chamfer did a good job when chaining the top edge of the chamfer and usign 0" top offset for the value. I have a video below on how i would setup the path.

might be other ways to get this done but this works.

Josh, you got a 3D mouse? Might look at getting one if you don't. They make life easier and when doing videos like the great one you just did they turn out smoother looking.

I know haha, i had to keep re-positioning my screen and i hate that too. i only have problems on longer parts like that one that take up more of my screen, normally on most parts especially when they are not very long i get by really well with just my mouse but on these longer parts a 3d mouse would be really nice to have. I probably will get one and i am sure i will be very happy when i do, thanks for the suggestion.

Josh, anything under 40" nowadays is small part for me. When I see a 2" part with about 50 features I get a smile on my face and think yeah something easy, then you have to figure out how to fit 500 of them on a machine and get lights out then the smile quickly fades.

Got a 3D mouse after Jay and Gcode talked me into getting one. I had to disable my center scroll on my mouse for a month to force myself to get use to it, but after that I have not looked back.

Hi Josh,

What did you use to create this video? Hopefully a freeware :)

not freeware, I make a lot of videos so I use a professional screen recorder called Camtasia Studio, I also use their snagit tool a lot too. I just shut the audio for the video since i didn't feel like talking through it so maybe that made it appear like freeware but its a great software.

What I use as well. Snagit has a 5-minute video recorder if you want a cheaper option, but the full Camatasia has so many tools to make professional level videos it is good for those that need that level without getting insane on some Adobe stuff.
