Tool numbers

I am doing a trim die that has 26 trim steels in it, they are wanting me to keep all tools similar from part to part as far as holder and lengths which is not hard to do, but they are wanting all tool numbers to be the same as well so they can load them all in the tool changer and do not have to build new tools or or move them and the offsets around when going from part to part. The thing is the parts are different enough that I will not need every tool used on one part for the next part. Is there a easy way within Mastercam to do this or do I have to go in and hand edit the program once posted? Hope this isn't confusing on what they want to do.

I suggest you start with the one that needs the most tools first, when done, rename and use that mastercam file for every other part you import. (your internal tool list should stay the same.) just refrain from re-numbering. I do this a lot cause I hate repetitive tasks. (Just Lazy)

importing is what we ended up doing, although in the end the CNC supervisor didn't like this idea because it would have been confusing for his operators.....................bangs head on keyboard walks away crying😭

Just came across this while searching something else, a wise old machinist once told me:

"It's impossible to help people.....who know every mother#%!*&g thing there is to know already."

I usually don't even try anymore if I can help it. They are not difficult people to spot in my experience.
