Old adage applies, if it's cheap it ain't good and if it's good, it ain't cheap.

 

i was thinking $1k to $2k. 

come to find out the cost begins at $10k.  this is out of my price range at this time. 

this is the first time i ever looked up software like this. it was an eye opener.  

the home learning edition will help me finish the book i purchased and prepare me for the class when i take it winter term.

You could look at an entry level product that might be more in your price range, there also are some new opportunities for subscription based licensing that can give you the chance to try the full version for a limited time.

Keep in mind that this is a perpetual license, so if you do buy it, you own it forever.
