Flat tops on rounded pieces

Recommended Posts

I use mastercam for the toolpath writing  at a stonecutting business, and I only have a basic understanding of the program and how toolpaths work. I have a few pieces that have a rounded top on them, but after I run the program i end up with about a half inch of flat space where the round should be. Is there a way to adjust the program to account for this and generate a rounded top?

If any further details are necessary, I will be glad to provide them.

To make a flat cut it is a simple 2D toolpath. (cutter moves in X and Y only)

To make a domed surface requires a 3D surface toolpath. (Cutter moves in X,Y and Z)
