Amada Vs. Hydmech Horizontal Bandsaws

Recommended Posts

Thoughts? Looking at either a Hydmech S-20A, Hydmech H-230A, or Amada HFA250. Boss kind of likes the safety/cleanliness of the H-230A, miter+size of the S-20A, familiarity of Amada. Are they all well built? Longevity comparable? Part availablity? Any other pertinent info to share?

Thanks in advance for any and all replies

Hydmech was a decent saw when they were manufactured in Canada. I believe they are manufactured off shore now. We have an older S20 saw with the variable speed drive and quick release miter option. We are a R&D shop so it gets minimal use.

The Amada looks like a great saw.

We run the Amada HA250W here, its about 3 years old. Its dead on accurate for cutting multiple pieces. Operators have to only dial the control to the correct length, set the material, and its off and running.

Other than typical clean up, this thing has needed no outside service work.

in prev shop, we had a Hydmech s23 series. IMO, the amada is a much more user friendly saw than the Hydmech.
