I agree with Matt on looking for a processor with the best single threaded performance. They all pretty much have a bunch of cores now. I have an i7 9700k and it does fine. I would assume a Ryzen 7 3800X or Ryzen 9 3900X would do even better.

I have a Xeon Silver 4216 CPU @2.10 GHz.  Is that good?

That has a single thread score of 1426, for $1008.63 current chip cost.  An AMD Ryzen 7 3800X scores 2984 for $379.99, so more than twice the performance for well less than half the cost.

My four year old i7 6700K scores 2354, current price is $312.61.

Downer. I know they paid almost $5000 for it.

When they buy from the it company it seems to cost twice as much.maybe it comes with support I don't know but I saw an invoice for my company's computer one time

I think everything except my software was already loaded in

Of course this computer is just for wire and drawing.

Our original IT company didn't think we needed a good graphics card

That always cracks me up.  As I sit here on my expensive can't even function as a boat anchor laptop.

Has great specs.  Can't handle Windows, no less actually running mastercam.

I finished up an onsite project and was packing up my 22" Dell monitors I bought when Ray and I worked together. They wouldn't buy me good monitors so I bought my own like the computer I bought my own and made them pay me back. Glad you got you a decent system Ray and glad you are working again. ;)

I don't have the list infront of me, but we got a decent computer at a fair price directly from Dell.  Thanks for all of your input guys.

I was just being sarcastic, but I did think I had a better computer than I really have.
