  2. I turn micro lift to zero and only double my back feed. Having the z axis come up .005 or whatever small micro lift distance you are using on large tool paths ain't good on the ballscrew. False Brinelling and lack of lube es el Diablo. I think if you have adequate distance in your moves and not peel milling a .280 slot with a 1/4 endmill it is not detrimental to the machine. Probably even better for it, compared to the violent chattering of 50 percent step overs and trapping the cutter. Dynamic, Vortex, Volumill, and Adaptive tool paths have been on long production runs for quite some time. I have not seen any increase in ball screw replacements.

    Paperless reporting on shop floor

We are also exploring how to do it. The pdf format could add notes that are typed for cleaner set up sheets. Varco is making us have a better look at it. A bit more info on the setup sheet could be good instead of printing out 4-6 sheets or more with large jobs . If you could display one page at a time and just flip or click through them it would be easier. We want to also try to get to the point of using high QA so we could have live results that either the operator enters or cmm . Live without having to try to find the traveller. It would be great to have No traveller. I'm sure in a few months we will have collaborative ideas to make it an easier transition.

No Mastercam file that shows how your part is set up? I thought it was generally accepted as good form to post a Mastercam file.

    deburring a tricky holes intersection

Has to be done from the position the 3d model is saved, with a lollipop cutter.
  8. Hello Trying to move the model in mc 2020 and gating massage (look at picture attached ) Same model on 2019 acting OK .
  9. Hello, I have to deburr this holes intersection and I can't do it right. Please look at the attached dropbox link for a picture. I also attached the 3d model. I need help here, please. Thank you very much. tesire 3d.STEP https://www.dropbox.com/s/5ptwc4yhdw4w33e/PIC%201.PNG?dl=0

MULTIPLE WCS (G54, G55) IN LATHE ENVIRONEMENT

No, in the same menu when you right click on the operation there is an item that says renumber work offset under starting offset where u can input a value like 0 or 1 to get g54 g55 etc. usually I set the work offset increment value to zero.
  11. Yes you can. Just change the work offset for the program you want by going into the Axis Combination/ Spindle Origin button located on the bottom left of the window and set the offset to 1 which should output G55. Welcome to the forum!
  12. If you watch the screws during this motion it really looks easy on them because they are all arcs. Slow to start and slow to stop. The sharp cornering is shocking to the screws and there is none of that in dynamic motion.

MULTIPLE WCS (G54, G55) IN LATHE ENVIRONEMENT

Thank you very much Peter Evans. Are you referring to the EDIT COMMON PARAMETERS table?

MULTIPLE WCS (G54, G55) IN LATHE ENVIRONEMENT

You can assign different work offsets to the individual operations by right clicking on the operation and selecting change offset # .
  15. Hi ! Here is the scenario :Im in a LATHE environment and I have a 250mm 9.84inch) long bar with a 30mm (1,18inch) diameter that i would like to clamp short in order to face and center drill (1ST OPERATION (G54) ) and after that unclamp and stick it out 200mm (7.87inch) and use a tailstock center to sustain the extreme side and then starting the turning of the bar with a new WCS (G55) (2ND OPERATION). To cut it short,IN MASTERCAM LATHE , HOW CAN I USE TWO DIFFERENTS WCS ( G54 and G55) in one setup?

    Paperless reporting on shop floor

We are trying to do the same in the shop I work in. Tricky though. lots of elements to consider. If you are successful with this it would be great if you shared some details and some things to be aware of. The biggest problem I see is that you will need a large tablet. The larger the tablet the more expensive it is. Zooming in is a problem as it's much better to view the whole page. plus you can only see one page at a time. Viewing only one page sucks and after you scroll down 5 pages you may want to back up a few pages....in a nutshell the navigation will suck. It's not the same as paper. Then what happens when your operator wants to scribble a note on the set-up sheet or make adjustments to the the set-up sheet? Things become trickier with tablets. To solve alot of the problems I mentioned above you would need a windows based tablet (or apple based) and those are double the price if not triple. That way you can use software like adobe to allow the operator to mark-up the set-up sheets. Now you need to protect the files you share from sabotage....Hmmmm. Tricky. We put this idea on pause because we ran into these slight issues with no efficient solution. If you become successful with the implementation of tablets as a replacement for set-up sheets and drawings......Let me know how you did it.
  17. Hey all, I am considering moving to a paperless reporting system for our shop floor. I have zero experience with this, however. My main thought would be to use an iPad (or several) on the shop floor where I can then Push my setup sheets, tool lists, and reports out to operators, or for myself for convenience. Does ActiveReports or VarcoReports or X+ support this functionality? Or is this more suited for ERP software? Have any of you successfully implemented such a shift? Thank you.

    RAM usage on stock models

I just re-generated 9 operations. One stock model and 8 Dynamic rough (rest machining) and watched the ram use in task manager. I saw it go as high as 88%. It took 45 seconds according to Mastercam logger regen these. I have 32 gb of ram and a 4gb video card. I use a windows add in to set Mastercam priority to high. I have no issues since doing this. The program is free. It is called PRIO. Google for it and install it. It has helped speed my times up and makes my system run more stable. You may have different results, but it seems to help my computer. Hopefully, it can help you guys also.

    Machine Simulation false collisions

I guess I don't 'need' to do it, since I also verify my parts. Normally, I just tell the simulator to ignore all similar errors for the op...but that doesn't address the fact that the simulator isn't working correctly unless I have some setting wrong...I was just trying to figure out if my relative ignorance about machine simulate was the reason for the errors and I simply didn't have some parameter correctly set...

    RAM usage on stock models

My systems have 32GB and I can never get MC to use more than 12% of the RAM, I have my Config memory set at 75%. I have many lockups with HS 3D toolpaths and end up closing MC to stop them.

    Machine Simulation false collisions

My question stands..Why do you need to check the tool against the workpiece?
  25. sharles

    Machine Simulation false collisions

Dylan, I'm not getting these in rapid moves. I'm getting them when the tool is right down on the part. Grievous, are you saying I should tighten the tolerance. It comes up at .007 tolerance. I've never messed with it. Maybe that's the problem, but will it significantly lengthen the simulation time on a part that's a gigabyte big? I guess I can try. Scott

    Stock Models

Have they made 2020 more stable than 2019, man getting tired of beating my head against the wall trying to do things in this without having to find some sort of work around. Also All the odd bugs of randomly creating odd work plans, and totally blitzing out your programs when you delete something that had nothing at all to do with existing programs. And stock models not working all the time. Have a part that I cannot get them to work period no matter what I do. Tried it the old way we was shown when we first switched of saving a .STL then importing it back in to a level and using that to create a stock model, it created on fine, then when used in verify it would make the surfaces where it was cutting disappear like it was a sheet body or something.

    RAM usage on stock models

As a side note to this problem, I only have 16 gigs of RAM on my machine, but when I look at my Task Manager Performance tab on a heavy crunching operation, it only allows me to utilize 8-9gb of RAM. I have my Mastercam config set to use 80%...am I missing something?
