  1. I draw a circle at origin, a line from the origin to the 0° quadrant of the circle, and a line from the origin extending through the 90° quadrant of the circle. That way no matter how it gets translated or rotated I always know to pick the short line for X and the long line for Y when creating the new WCS from geometry.

  4. OK. Here is one I'm sure many of you do already. One of my guys asked "how do you do that?" today. PLUSES OF OVERLAP Thought everyone knew this one. hole DIA - tool DIA then multiply by Pi = circumference (length) of cutting-path. type all the math in the boxes (Boxes can math) This keeps a tool down inside a hole for as many revolutions (spring passes) as you want without coming off the part or retracting. here I'm cutting a Ø.765 with a Ø.500 EM, set your overlap to (Ø.765-Ø.500)*Pi = .8325 overlap 1 revolution (spring pass) OT I also use (Ø.765-Ø.500)/2 = that sets as my lead in at center. ( only cause i subtract the amount of stock allowed for multi passes or stock left. )

  5. Happy to help. There used to be a 'Quick Reference Card', which showed all the different icons that can appear in the Operations Manager, and what they indicate. It might be in the Help file, or in one of the PDF files that installs with Mastercam...

  6. If you want the best bang for your buck (performance per dollar) you REALLY don't want to be buying a laptop or "mobile workstation". They're much more expensive, thermally throttled, shorter lived, and far more difficult and expensive to repair or upgrade. If you build a desktop you can put together an overclocked screamer for under $2500 that will serve you well for at least three years, passably for five, and will keep trudging for eight. Due almost exclusively to thermal dissipation limitations a laptop will have severely limited performance and is likely to burn something out in less than two years.

  7. Unless you're doing really simple programming work, you're most likely losing out on a lot of productivity. Even my desktop workstation, which is 4 years old and was built with pretty good components at the time, is costing me probably an hour or two per week of productivity.

  8. That's just the ones you saw in a class room Ron. You better add heavens knows how many thousand to that figure, for the ones that have read your posts over the years. :notworthy:

  9. My original issue was very similar. After investigating it more, it was a setting in my video card. I had to go into the video card settings and switch it over to performance for Mastercam. For some reason it does not auto switch or default that way like other cam systems do. To help you with the issue we will need to know your computer specs so we can walk you through the settings to try.
