  1. I use the Carmex Thread MIll wizard This thread mill wizard rocks!!!! They call their line of Left hand thread mill cutters Hard Cut and they work very well I just finished 2 big titanium rings that are the interface between a satellite and the rocket putting it into orbit These parts had about 200 hours each in VTL time when I got them and a team on standby waiting to mount the satellite to the rocket for a launch this summer. I did NOT want to screw these parts up. They each had about 60 M4 x 7 blind holes in them. I used Carmex Hard Cuts and got them all done with no issues. That was stressful work.

  2. I just make them as inch spec with the correct threads per inch.

  4. You can call a NET-Hook from the post and use the NET-Hook to interrogate the Mastercam file. If you wanted to use a system plane for this I think you could do it in the post without creating a extra toolpath, provided you are in 2017 or later (I realize that a system plane is limiting) .

  5. In order to get the Coordinates into the NCI File > You must create a Toolpath Operation of some type. However, just because the Operation Data is present in the NCI File, does not mean you need to create output. (You can write logic to suppress the output). Your best ally in this case is the Point Toolpath. Just have each Programmer create a Point Operation, and drive the Tool being used to "a safe position above the tooling ball". Maybe 0,0,3. Then configure a Misc Integer to "suppress" the output when it is active. (or, write logic to detect the 'operation type', and suppress all Point Ops, if your Programmers don't use these Ops as a habit...)

  6. You mentioned "from the Toolpath Manager", but your picture shows "saving from an Operation". Try this; finish generating the Toolpath, and open the Lathe Tool Manager. Make sure it is set to display "both" Part Tools and Library Tools. If "the Master Library" isn't shown in the bottom section, use the Browse button to open the correct Library. Highlight the Tool(s) you want to copy to the Master Library. (Tip: you can click-hold-and-drag a 'selection window' with your mouse to select multiple tools at once.) With your Tool(s) selected, press the "Down Arrow Button (Copy selected tool(s) to Library". Now, when you click "Ok" to exit the Manager, Mastercam will ask if you want to save the changes to your library...

  7. We've been programming in WCS since it came out in Mastecam 9.1 All 3, 4, and 5 axis. Some functionality doesn't work correctly, never has, but most things work fine. We have a customer that likes to move pilot holes quite often, super fast to bring in the new model and then move the holes without having to re-orient the parts and make sure it was moved just right. When true position is .007" you better have moved the new part to the exact spot the other one was at. We also do a fair amount of spares parts for the gov, most of those old parts have loft surfaces in space, then you have to model the part around that. We keep it in aircraft coordinates for inspection purposes. Modeling up parts with drawings from the 50's and spreadsheets of space point to define some loft surface out in space is awesome.
