  1. We finally got some machine time and ran this part last week As always the Okuma VTM was superb. The tools were a Ø4" x .312W slotting mill for roughing and a Ø4" x .75W slab mill ground to make a 1P Acme form tool Despite the 14" long C5 Capto stack for arbors, the Okuma purred like a kitten. The posted code was flawless and the finished part looks great. We haven't been able to gage it yet though. The "gage" is a 60 year old 2000 pound shaft with 60 years worth of rust and battle damage. Our part is to print but will not fit on the beat up shaft without damaging critical ID's The customer is still deciding what they want to do about that.

  3. Hello We are looking to replace current lab computer that supports MasterCam 2018 classes. The use is not heavy rendering but we want to purchase hardware that will last for a 3 year hardware cycle. Current systems are second gen Intel i7 with Nivdia Quadro 600 display adapter. Thank you John Rykken Mt. Hood Community College

  4. Three and a half years ago I built an i7-6700K overclocked with 64GB RAM, two 512GB SSD's, and a Quadro M4000 for about $3700. The Quadro was $900 of that. It's still serving me well. If I were to build a new one today I could only get a 23% improvement.

  5. There's an option in configs, screen: "Main level is always visible". You can turn it off.

  7. Back in V9 days I helped work on a 600mg V9 file We were always crashing.. and the results were zero byte files after the crash... months of work gone in the blink of an eye This file took about 40 minutes to open and you had to cool your heels for 5 minutes when you hit save. We worked on this file for nearly a year and cooked 3 hard drives during that year. The guy who did most of the work on this file burned a CD of it every night before he shut down for the day after getting burned a couple of times

  8. I prefer the Backup utility I have backup set up to save 10 copied That way I always have a copy of my last 10 saves. If something goes bad, you can review the backup copies going backwards and hopefully find one that is still good Autosave, will just over write your existing file over and over. If you make a mistake, they is no going back after the first save

  9. I use the auto save but have it prompt me before It saves. Keeps it from saving when I don't want it to.

  10. I avoid this problem by not using thread mill tool definition in stead of it i use slot mill , and i don not have any problem

  11. This kind of stuff is why i setup a backup directory and have it set to save every 10 min.

  12. Not that specific one but other head/head machines. It is possible. I used reference points for my pre-positioning. It was a little more work but it gets around the auto output when tools are not set properly. I found myself smacking overtravels all the time. Unless you are really confident in your post editing I would buy a post - and I am very confident in my ability to hack a post. My first choice would be to see if Colin Gilchrist is available to work it up for you because I know him. If not I'd buy Postability.

  13. To be honest, I find a lot of useful information in old topics. So maybe there is no point making suggestions for him, but it might still be useful for others who run into similar problems in newer versions.. there is always a point to sharing information!

  14. Easy. Look for this switch in your Post: frc_cinit : yes$ change to: frc_cinit : no$ The variable name is "force 'C' initialize". (In the 4 Axis Posts, 'c$' is the 'Rotary Address Variable', even though it is typically configured to output either 'A' or 'B'.

  15. Like this? Limits.zip I'm using a conical limit switch down the center of the part with the setting of the upper and lower limit at 9.405 so it locks the B axis and C is still allowed to move.
