  1. You can also use trim function here. It is important to pay attention to the small icons that appear next to the cursor. It tells you what the system is seeing as your selection, endpoint or midpoint for instance. When drawing line tangent to an arc, the arc should highlight but without an icon. The system is looking at the arc, click and drag the line past the next arc and drop the line onto the arc so again arc is highlighted with no additional icon, and voila. Nothing like practice and experience with this sort of thing.

  6. I bet the multi threading goes even faster now!!! Who cares. I wish they would just spend some time and streamline the software... Also it would be cool if it would tell you why it can't generate the toolpath you're trying. I mean it's got a dynomite button but does anybody ever click on it? Why can't we delete original planes that don't get used? Does circle mill have an entry feed and speed yet that spools up at the bottom of the hole and hoes ham? How about first pass feed rate reduction support on surfacing. I don't care about viewsheets I have no need for them. How about a better printable format for tool lists and assemblies..... I could go on and on.

  7. Aside from save often and keep liquor on hand (the most important tricks of all), if you have to do multiple plane work, use view sheets.

  8. If you have the "Auto-cursor" options enabled, you can press the letter of the keyboard shortcut for the "Auto Cursor Override" options. This means to snap to an Arc Center, you press the letter "C" on the keyboard. "M" for Midpoint, "E" for Endpoint, "O" for Origin, "I" for Intersection, "P" for Point, and so on. There is a lot of time to be gained from using these shortcuts.

  9. Many "Power Users" get used to using the "Hide" command (ALT + E). When using "Hide", if you have any geometry selected on the screen, this becomes your "displayed" geometry, and everything else is temporarily hidden. Pressing ALT + E again, un-hides everything. There are a couple useful commands that go along with "Hide", but they are not in the Screen menu by default. (OK, X9 gave us "unhide some" in the main menu at least). So along with the normal "Hide" command (ALT + E), Mastercam also has "Un-hide some", and "Hide More Entities". Both of these commands I find to be extremely useful, so I map them to the F11 and F12 keys on my keyboard. I also customize my Right Mouse Button Menu, and add them to my "Screen" fly-out menu. I use these commands a lot...

  10. No, for creating geometry. For example, if you want to create a point a certain distance from another point I would create a point there then translate it. If you shift-click you can type in X,Y,Z coords to put the point where you want it from the one click. Try it with drawing lines or anything I've tried so far has worked.
