  3. Hi, Since I at home during the Covid-19 situation I am trying to use this time to further my Mastercam skills. I am trying to teach myself how to program an impeller without using Blade Expert. I am an Educational User but I am sure I will need the help of the Industrial users!!! Could anyone let me know if I am heading in the right direction? Thanks for any advice or critique! https://www.dropbox.com/s/vnu5ahwmoscfnts/Impellar_JF.emcam?dl=0

  4. Not a bad start. Need to change your linking moves to get better control on the linking motion. I like Cylinder for a part like this. On your Swarf use the sync by upper and lower chains to get better control on the tilt as it swarfs the walls.

  5. One other thought to finish the wall is look to a taper ball endmill verses the ball endmill. We get some added benefits in doing so. We will have a stronger tool since we have a bigger Diameter tool to work from and you will find the angle sweep is normally smaller for impellers using a tapered ball endmill verses a straight ball endmill. Trick most times is finding one with the correct Radius. I would have these custom made if I were doing production on impellers. 7-15 degree included angle it where I like to start.

  6. Don't ever change the 1st settings in the advanced 5 axis toolpaths on the linking page. Leave that as it is and make the #2 and #3 control other things. Changing that really gives these toolpaths a fit in Mastercam. The Mesh Engine needs them and by changing it the toolpath becomes very unstable. Make Tilt lines at the stat and end of the morph. Process is to make a lines using endpoints on the upper and lower edges that are towards the floor of the impeller. Now on tool axis control use those lines to drive the toolpath Yes 4 lines is all that is needed. Make sure the settings are like so on the tool axis control. I also changed all the geometry to drive it from the solid. If you want to go on and off the part use the extend function. I try to leave my morph chains as close to original as possible. By making them extended like you did makes things messy for the toolpath. Not sure if you have 2020 Educational, but here is a link to the file saved in 2020 like I have it show above. 2020 Link

  7. Since your a licensed user of it need to contact their support department and let them walk you through what they think needs to be done to correct this.

  8. Never set your buffer to 99% you are robbing the OS of needed resources to function. I will set mine to 85% max.

  9. Unless it's fairly basic, don't. People have done some really trick prints using Mastercam but it will take them multiple times longer than it would in a real CAD system....it's called Master"CAM" not Master"CAD" I don't even consider it a poor man's CAD system As pointed out above, Solids Layout and a bottle of Tylenol

The Mastercam 2020 Mill Essentials Training Tutorial features concept-filled tutorials, challenging practice exercises and short quizzes following every tutorial providing a comprehensive look at geometry creation and 2D toolpathing for Mastercam Mill. This book begins with the absolute basics by introducing the Mastercam user interface and it will have you creating geometry, drilling and creating contour toolpaths before you know it. Its gradual progression lends way to more advanced concepts such as multiple setup scenarios and 2D High Speed Toolpaths. All of the parts within the book are designed with machinability in mind. A multitude of topics are covered including 2D geometry, solid geometry, tool settings, stock setup, drilling, tapping, contouring, pocketing, circle milling and slot milling. You will learn the 2D High Speed Toolpaths such as Dynamic Mill, Area Mill, Dynamic Contour, Peel Mill & Blend Mill, how to import a solid and machine it and using the WCS in multiple fixture applications.

  11. I have 50 Solidwork Files I'd like to batch convert to MCX files but I am having no luck. I go to File>Convert>Import Folder and then nothing happens. No prompt to select anything. I have to hit ESC to get out of there. Am I missing something simple here? Thanks for the help

  12. Alt + 1-7 different views (top front left right etc) Alt+F1 Fit F1 - Zoom to selection Alt+E Hide Alt+S Toggle solid/wire frame mode Also if you love key binds as much as I do (my left hand goes instantly to WASD as soon as I sit down) you can go into settings customize under the tab key mapping and bind repeatedly used commands and functions to easy to use key binds for ease of access. Most recently used bar is also great, as well as the mask function. Also if you use different colors for solids (or geometry) you can use the Quick mask color selection to grab all entities of a certain color. One thing I learned later on is Ctrl+mouse wheel will rotate about mouse pointer location, can make navigation a little easier if you work without a space mouse. One last tip as I've seen people get bit by this before, if you go into your levels manager select "Main level is always visible" I cant tell you how many times after starting on MC that I would draw something and not be able to see it because the level I was drawing on was not visible.

  14. How? I have 2 just in case one goes bad. I can't go one day without it. If i don't have it i just stop and look around like a deer in headlights. I'm thinking about even getting a backup to the backup I work from home 100% and i use a laptop (see sig). Even though i dont go mobile often. When i do it works perfect
