  1. You should talk with your IT person. Go to the User\Public\Shared mcam----\ folders, and allow "full control" to your user group(s) or individual profile. I also recommend allowing full control over %AppData%. Make sure hidden folders and system folders are visible. Type " %AppData% " into windows explorer without the quotes or spaces in the name. The percent prefix and suffix signs make this a Windows Environment Variable. There should be both 'local' and 'roaming'. Inside each will be a Mastercam folder or a CNC Software folder. (Possibly multiple, based on version...) Set the permissions to full control on both the local and the roaming Mastercam/CNC Software sub-folders.

  3. I think Colin nailed this one. Your IT policies are not allowing your user files to be overwritten via a VPN connection

  6. How about here in North America we declare imperial standard obsolete, and we stop using it, because the majority of people on this planet use a better and more simple system called metric.

  10. This appears to do a bit more than rename e$. It appers to allow the user to add a end of line string to every output line in one place. For example if you wanted to add '*' to the end of every string you could do the following. pe '*', e$ Even if the post isn't encrypted this seems to have value, no? I'm not a post expert so I'll differ to you; objectively whats wrong with the above? How would you handle this? What standards would you like to see set in regards to MP posts? Software development is an art as much as it is a science; a standard in something so abstract seems like telling a painter they can only paint black circles on a white background. How can innovation happen if everyone is required to do the same thing?

  12. You would have to create a logic process using mi and mr triggers to accomplish this task. Mastercam is not a macro output by nature software. It can be done, but heavy post work IMHO would need to be done to accomplish that task. Welcome to the Mastercam forum.

  13. To change the "Subprogram File Name", to "match exactly" the Subroutine Number (O3200.SUB), you need to employ a special trick. snamesub$ = drs_str(2, sub_prg_no$) The "Dress String" function (when using Function Mode 2), tells MP to "Format the String, as it would for output". This means it take the "Sub number" (value of the variable), and it appends the String Character at the start. (Typically an "O", although it could be a "P" or any other character.) Technically, the MP Language supports "Suffix" strings as well, so if there was a suffix string associated with that variable (sub_prg_no$), that would get added as well. If you just tried to use the 'sub_prg_no$' variable directly, you would get a "type conversion" error, since 'sub_prg_no$' is a numeric variable, not a "string". You could use another function to simply convert 'sub_prg_no$' to a String Variable, but it would leave off the prefix "O" when using that function. That is why the 'Dress String' function is so handy...

  14. Yes. At the "End of File (peof$), there is usually a "mergesub" command. This is the command that "loads the Subprograms" at the end of the file. Prior to running the 'mergesub' command, the Subroutines already exist in a separate file. It a simple matter to "rename" this file, change the File Extension, or change the location of the Subroutine File. There are many "File Manipulation" commands available in the MP Language.

  15. I feel pretty dumb right now, that was probably the only thing I neglected to try since it worked. Thank you for the suggestion.

  16. Absolutely right. Most of the time having these in separate post blocks is completely redundant. But every now and then when we run into a custom application where it is a huge time saver. As far as standards go, all these posts are coming out of Canada.... I can tell you my height in feet and inches, but if you want that in cm I will need to I read what is printed on my drivers license. We can't all agree on one language to speak either. PS. There is a "U" in colour, and centre ends with "RE" not "ER"
