  1. Running a I-100 ST (milling head, lower turret, and subspindle) all programmed in the mill turn environment, been using it for about 2 yrs. Making complicated prototypes with more milling than turning. My reseller support has been great and the support from Mastercam has been ok. They are actively developing the software and it has gotten better over that time. My biggest gripe is that stock models and verify do not work very well in millturn, making it difficult to see where stock is remaining. The simulator works well but it can take 5-10 minutes to launch and finish simulating which can be frustrating if your trying to vet small changes. The normal user can only make small changes to the posts and outputs. Don't be afraid to ask your reseller for post changes, some can be done at their level and the rest are handled by mastercam. The mazak post i got from them is now working very well.

  2. Need to make progressive stock models and use them for your toolpaths. I don't like the process of using previous operations. Stock models works best in my humble opinion. We are saying about the same thing.

  3. I looking very quickly at this now. I'm a bit old school but I would define a new stock model before your OP5. I sometimes have my very first op as a stock model. I also have 2-3-4 stock models as I go along and then refer to the last stock model as my current part condition for my rest milling op.

  4. I built it that way. Here is the link to the machine I built years ago like this. Right Side 4th Axis VMC

  5. Are you sure the values aren't written to the NCI? There is a switch inside the Control Definition, that controls which parameters; Original Op or Transform or Both, that actually get written. Is that switch set to "Transform" or "Both"? I'm honestly not sure either way, but I do know that switch exists in the CD.

  6. I am not aware of any videos but the best thing is to program the part and upload a valid Mastercam file and someone will help you.

  7. In cases like this I will create a flat surface above, run a flowline on that, then project that toolpath down onto the surfaces I need to cut...

  8. I worked at a shop where we did that (admittedly this was back in X4) and I wasn't very impressed. Even 4 axis programs were unstable in holding their selected origin, which if you are on a constructed WCS will instantly throw your retracts off in either absolute or incremental, and with multi axis you lost considerable functionality if you were not on MC zero. Of course the whole reason for doing it is that when there is a Rev change the new model should come in in the same position. In the 4 years that I was there I was able to take advantage of this 0 (zero) times. These days Rev changes in aircraft are usually non dimensional , however most of my programs in those days included multi axis toolpaths so unless I moved to MC zero I lost significant functionality. So I constructed 3D translate axis on a level to be able to get the part in position quickly.....never needed that either. Still not convinced of the efficacy of machining in airplane space.....I know people do it all the time......just not convinced its not more trouble than its worth.

  9. It's "Microsoft's" way, or the highway apparently. The removal of Left-Click/Right-Click for the quickmasks really sucked. I strongly dislike the divided diagonal button approach.
