  1. I wish there was a "quick search" textbox that would immediately filter tools as I type. Using the tool filter is a lot of clickety-click (now I typically just order the tools by diameter and choose the one, which is faster that going through the filter options)

  2. Sometimes it useful to group surfaces by color, drive, drive + .004, check, check +.05 etc Then you can use color mask selection to select them

  3. I used to shut down every day when I went home I can't do that anymore because I frequently need to remote in from home now. Since I can't shut it down every night, I've made a habit of rebooting first thing every morning.

  4. Just a bit confused because I can do what takes hours in this software in 30 minutes on other systems, and I did exactly that. I'm on the plugin for solidworks. Not sure those things work the same way.

  5. Do the largest side first. Then make a set of soft jaws to grab that shape put a tooling ball in the fixed jaw to pick up. Make a mirror set of jaws that allow you to grab that same large shape when flipped over and align the hole in the angle vice. Again put a tooling ball in the fixed jaw for pick up to do the back counterbore. Then machine the 2nd side. Put the vice on a angled plate at the angle needed for the feature. Make the jaws so when you put the part at the angle only one rotation angle is need. Let the jaws control the 2nd angle if it proves to be a compound angle. Now you have 4 setups, but can accurate grab and machine the part in a 3 Axis VMC. In a 4 or 5 axis machine with tabs could reduced to one setup depending on how you hold it with larger material.

  7. Yes why it has to be tied to a post or create dummy operations to not get the simulation to do such things. Then it defeats the purpose of going about using it to match what the posted code is if you have to create dummy operation to us it. Compared to CAV it is a fraction of the cost.

  8. Understand, unless your MachSim is tied to your post, what you see between your Mastercam File,, gcode and Machsim will not be accurate. and to have it tied to your post is $$$ Otherwise, it's mostly useless

  9. Not for the past, say, 10 years? I believe until X7(?), Mastercam used the old verify engine which used to run in the graphics window. As a 5 axis guy all of my life, I was only able to use it 2 or 3 times from the version I started in (V9). It barely worked for multiaxis paths, constant crashes and took forever to verify. It was faster to run on the machine!
