  1. not automatically, could revolve a solid on a helix. but IMHO importing a screw from McMaster align to your minor and boolean remove it is waaay faster.

  2. Thank you for the input, but i made sure a long time ago, that these settings where set. After some other strange errors i found out that some key on the keyboard was stuck (not visible by eye). By pressing all the keys multiple times the errors went away. Tomorrow i am going to buy some spare keyboards. So problem solved.

  3. Have done both in the past, but in Mastercam not in a long time. EDM is like 2D contouring in Mill IMHO. Once you get the power settings and other things figured out along with correct methods for material like roughing, finish passes and other things you should be good.

  4. What I do when I get splines instead of arcs is I make points on each end and the middle of the spline, then I create an arc with 3 point arc. Much better than break many

  5. Give it full admin rights for the user would be something to try. This shows the steps for 2021, but same can be done for any version of Mastercam.

  6. This is the default tolerance page for out Hass trunion post To me the Min Arc Radius being set at .0001 makes no sense... but I don't think that's what it really means I had it set bigger on another post and it caused trouble, when I moved it back to .0001 the trouble went away

  7. This is a screen shot of the Control Def Arc page of our Hass VF6-TR210 trunnion post. It is set exactly as it was delivered and we've not had any issues with it. It implies that I'm on the wrong track, but I don't know how the version of your Haas control or if anyone has been messing with the arc settings in the control. I think I'd still try unchecking "Allow 360° arcs" and see what happens

  8. where is the alarm occurring... on the ramp in move?? I ran both these files through CimcoEdit backplot and nothing jumps out at me They appear to be identical other than their different orientation is space I do have a trouble shooting suggestion Your ramp in moves are doing full 360° helical arcs in one block of code. Try changing your arc settings in the control def to "break ay 180°" or for a quick and dirty test, turn off helical ramps on the filter page... or change your ramp in motion to a linear ramp. Neither of these are fixes for the problem, but may get the job running something else I noticed these are the two ramp in moves the first one is the one that runs X-.0055 Y-.5844 Z5.7174 G1 Z5.6774 F25. G2 Z5.6383 I-.1105 J.0433 F4.4 <---------- this is a full 360° helical ramp move... no X or Y output X-.2346 Y-.5346 Z5.6207 I-.1105 J.0433 G1 X-.1354 Y-.54 X.0307 Y-.5002 Z7.0299 Z5.7473 G1 Z5.7073 F25. G2 X.0306 Z5.6682 I-.1178 J.0143 F4.4 <--------- note the X.0306 output... .0001 different from the starting point X-.2036 Y-.5093 Z5.6506 I-.1178 J.0143 G1 X-.1062 Y-.4897 maybe the Haas control doesn't like it.??

  9. So the company I work for is seriously considering purchasing a 5 axis horizontal mill. One of the reasons is there is a family of parts that they want to run on it. We currently do the ID work on a turning center then move it to a horizontal 4 axis mill for the small angled holes. My question is, will the internal work be something that can be programmed to run complete on a 5 axis mill? Mind you there are 16 finish call outs and +/-.001 tolerances to hold. The parts are machined from aluminum castings, Fixturing of these parts is another thing I am trying to wrap my head around. The 5 axis mill is a Kitamura Supercell-300G. Pallet size : 7.9" diameter max work piece dia. 8.3" Z axis travel: 18.1" A axis travel: 30 to -120 B axis travel: 0-360 I have attached a file of one of the smaller parts inlayed with the STOCK casting. (The green slot does not belong there it is a error in the solids). I'm not sure I am allowed to share a drawing. If it is really necessary for evaluation I can check on sharing it. Just getting into the whole 5 axis world is exciting and I am looking forward to the challenges. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am not asking for things to be done for me here as I will not learn from that. Well not yet anyways, haha. Thank you all in advance. Inlayed with casting 8-25-22.mcam

  10. I believe it does exactly what you want. you can scroll thru the top of the post and it should have a description where they are declared

  11. I would start by reloading the post with Machine Group > files > Replace. Then, I would set your toolpaths to "Automatically set to Post defaults when posting" on the Misc Values page. Finally, I would follow JP's instructions, and have a session with your reseller. Your buddy is wrong, there's many many many times where those values will do anything from improve your surface finish to prevent a crash by orienting your machine the correct way when posting. Learn how to use them.

  12. 95% I use dynamic toolpaths with high-feed mill, so far it always worked!

  13. When you load a Machine def into a file, that file has it's own(local) version of the Machine & Control def.... You likely want to reload the machine into the file so that it picks up your latest version on that particular computer.

  14. It is a little bit of a process in 2023. In Previous versions doing this was not such a pain. Step #1 File/Options Step #2 Click on Context Menu Step #3 On the Choose commands from drop down pick the selection as the active dropdown Step #4 On the Right Mouse Button Menu add a separator where there is already a separator. Extremely important to position the cursor in that window to highlight the upper separator. Step #5 Using the Mouse and Left Click the Autocursor Functions you want added to the RMB. We lost the CRTL ability that was in previous versions so this process has to be done one by one now. Pick the order you want them to be in. I use certain ones more that others so they are at the top of my list. Any user can follow the dropdown from the Autocursor as a guide. This will have all of the Autocursor functions you want to turn into a sub menu added the RMB section the area between both Separators. Step #6 In the RMB section we Shift grabbing the upper and lower Autocursor functions. When then right click with all of them highlighted and click Create submenu from that right click dropdown. Now I have named this SNAP since the V9 days over 20 years ago when someone created a Chook that allowed us to customize the RMB back then. I would recommend naming it Autocursor. Now here is where the fun being with the dysfunctional part of doing this in Mastercam. Remember our separator we added? It is gone and remember where you added this? That is also not where it was. Now we have to add another separator back into the RMB and then drag this newly created Submenu back to where we had it. (I have done this on well over 100 different systems and seen the same thing 99% of the time since X was released) Step #7 We repeat Step 4 this time picking all the Autocursor Lock functions we want to turn into a sub menu. Have to be careful to not add them to the Autocursor submenu. The other option is to create a submenu first then add them to that submenu. We need one item to create a submenu and yes the above problem with jumbling up thing can still happen. While I will normally get my submenus all made then go back and fix things after they are created. I have included a Video, 2023 Workspace File with this added, a copy of my workspace file using no ribbons and a PDF with Pictures in the zip file. Sorry it not a fancy link, but copy this into your browser and you should be good to go. My workspace file has RDB_ in the extension just copy your existing one and then delete it from the config folder for your user account on the computer you are using. I do this to keep a copy of my workspace file should it ever get corrupted. https://www.dropbox.com/s/pwj1lmw6akruzji/5th%20Axis%20AutoCursor%20and%20Lock%20RMB.zip?dl=0

  15. I run a mazak integrex, when I use mastercam for turning I typically have template files setup for various part types I encounter often making it easy to program parts. This way all my toolpaths and tools are already there I just have to import and rechain geometry. I do have a millturn enviorment for my machine and have all 3d holders for turning which is especially helpful with clearances.

  16. Does Chamfer Drill do a good job on irregular surfaces and other features that holes are made to? My method works even on 3D chamfers with no issue. I have one word for them WHAAAAAAAAAAAA
