I'm a little P.O'd Mr1 has so many little quirks. I'm starting to feel the same way. I wish I would've done a side by side install. If I had, I would've switched back by now.
I think the whole coolant menu is getting farther and farther away from what I want with every release. I just want to click coolant on or air on or both.
I don't want to click a down arrow, then click off on coolant and click another down arrow and click on on air. It doesn't have to be that complicated. The new menu reminds me of some of the craziness I've seen in Unigraphics.
I don't know why I'm having such a hard time figuring this out.
Is there an easy way to update my post to account for the new coolant settings? I ran the updatepost chook and it didn't do anything.
I personally prefer the v9 settings but when I check that feature in my Machdef, it ignores my defaults in the operations which means I have to set them every time. If I use the "Use tool's step, peck and coolant it messes with other settings that my operators prefer.
Any help?
I like the idea of the trochoidal cuts. but I'm getting the same thing. I usually use a boundary. I know why I want them in the program but it's hard to justify using them to someone else when they see the unnecessary time added to the path. If I had better control over when they are used maybe I'd utilize them more.
I use full vertical retract every time and I have NEVER had a gouge. in the high speed paths. I use them all day everyday in what I do and they work great. (aside from taking a while to generate)
We like to use solid carbide and let them run unattended at night. We use YG ballnoses. But if you like carbide inserted ball noses take a look at Millstar's line of single insert ball nose cutters. I used them a lot at the last place I worked.

would also like to see new features like parametric modelling, but I strongly agree with Matt that there are plenty of small seemingly minor "gremlins" that need fixing and attention from CNC
I have seen those types of things in every system I've ever used. If we wait for every single little thing to get fixed before adding new stuff we'd never get anything new.
The solid modeling bundle has been lagging behind for some time. I hope it get's some attention soon.
there might be something obvious that I'm forgetting but right off the top of my head, I can't remember a single enhancement to solids since 2003 when I got back into Mastercam.
Does anyone know of ANY developments on that front?
I wish undo worked with solid models better.
I know you can change things in the modeling tree. But it's aggravating when you hit undo and all of a sudden your solids are in need of regenerating because undo just undid a line or a fillet in an extrusion.
if it won't undo a feature in a solid model(which seems silly to me) it shouldn't undo geo used to generate a solid model either.

Do you want parametric ANYTHING from a piece of software that doesn't even know if you've actually changed anything but prompts you to save it anyway ? wadr yes! I'd like parametric anything.
I can make it do it everytime this way:
1)open a file do what you want and save it.
2)do one more thing to the file such as create a line.
3)without saving that file open another file.
4)It will ask you if you want to save the existing file. Say Yes.
5)It will come up the name of the wrong file.
I know that my reseller has been having a problem with it also and they've been in contact with mastercam about the issue. I haven't heard from them what the response has been.

That's not a high end card, I know, but I am seeing it too. Makes me feel a little better to know that some of you guys have good cards and are still getting the same thing.
