  1. Is there any way to read patch note before installing this? I don't wanna get hosed like I did with update 2...
  2. File I imported only had geometry. My reseller got the file fixed so I could at least not lose the geometry. Unfortunately, it cost me 40min ish of rewriting toolpaths, plus 20min waiting on him. His fix was to: 1 open Mcam 2 load any random machine def 3 load my file Then I could write toolpaths again. He's sending my original file into CNC to see if they can figure something out.
  3. Mastercam 2021 update 2, was working with a file and got an error message to relating to the machine definition, or some such(didn't screen shot it). Accepted the green otion, and closed it out, and rebooted the pc. Go to open the file, and get this: Lost all my tool paths. It will only take me an hour I think to recover, but it's the principle of the matter. I've never had in issue like this with Mastercam in 22yrs of using it. Guess I start using the auto save backup feature now, and see how well that works...
  4. Soooo helpful And since I can't find it within the help file in Mastercam... would you mind pointing me to the info?
  5. Thanks, looks like it's gone now. I don't remember that from past upgrades. Now if I can get it to remember my view setting, and my level list layout, and floating settings I'd be happy... I really wish there was a way to keep those setting between upgrades.
  6. 3min 3 seconds with MCAM 2021 and the new rig.
  7. Got the MMD issue fixed. New issue, everyday since install 2021 has been asking me to check the box for the license agreement. What gives? We have valid nethasp, and I have not had one issue with starting Mcam since upgrading to 2021(knock wood, uh huh huh he said wood uh huh huh). We have been having constant issues with 2020 and the nethasp not always being seen, but thats NOT my concern right this second. I just don't wanna have to check the box for license agreement everyday...
  8. Nevermind, figured it out. They all gotta be updated, something I haven't had to do in a looooooooooooong time. Good thing I only have a few machines to worry about, elsewise this would take awhile...
  9. Just installed 2021. I got away from using the migration tool a long time ago as it never worked right for me, even when I used all default file locations. Anyhow, I always just drag and drop my files manually from old to new every time we update to new version. Works well 99.9999% of the time. Today I did the usual drag and drop, and I can't put my machines into the machine list from the tab in the menu. I don't see them when i go to add, and they are in the correct directory, and I am looking in the right place when I drag the menu open.
  10. $2300.00USD. Had it put together by a local outfit. Took about a week from sending out the quote to getting the pc. Originally asked for P2000, but he had issues getting that so he gave us the P2200 at no extra charge. This system is not overclocked either.
  11. Got my new toy, er pc today Intel I9-10900k 64gb ram Quadro P2200 Samsung 970 pro Asus Prime Z490 3:17 to run the benchmark. I'm happy
  12. The plan is to replace my PC first(we have 4 potentially that may need replacement). Another crucial part of the plan is to get at least 5 yrs out of these next PCs. I've worked in plenty of shops that have had PCs that were 5yrs old still quite able to get the job done, and only choke, or slow down when doing solids, while running verify on multi axis(usually nothing too festive, just 3+1, or 3+2) I know whatever I get, even if it is at the low end of the spectrum, it will be faster than what I have now which is: Xeon W5580 3.2GHz 44gb pc12800 ddr3 ssd for boot drive(dunno what it is) Nvidia GeForce GT440 1gb This was apparently bought back in Sept. to replace something else and was about $1k as I understand it. It was a refurbished unit. We've already told the boss that the next box won't be cheap, close to $2k or so. I would like to start with the first one being as close to Mastercam minimum specs as possible, but it will have at least 64gb ram. One thing I'm curious about and I will need to look at more, is the graphics. I know Mastercam wants the Quadro cards, but I have run it in the past on GeForce cards with no issues. After only a few minutes of specing out a few different PCs, it seems to me that I may not save enough money to justify not getting the quadro card. 99% or what we do is basic 3 axis work, with some surfacing. I haven't created any models in quite awhile so I have to remember how to do it. 99% of our files have solid models in them(usually only the part), and we have started saving temp copies of the files locally to reduce network(thats a whole nother issue). And we've set the Toolpaths memory allocation to 80% for Mastercam in the config. Keep the advice, and rig specs coming, this is helpful as I haven't bought a PC in over 3yrs.
  13. I'd be interested in seeing people's specs of what work and what doesnt. We just talked the boss into buying new pcs as we get ready to go to 2021, and I wanna buy something that works and is faster than the xeon w5580 I have now. Oh yeah, also prebuilt, or should I build it myself?
  14. Having same issue here when using a drill operation, axis control, rotary axis control, rotation type, with rotation type set to rotary positioning. I have always programmed drilled holes like this on multi axis parts(99% of the time with a 4th) and never any issues. The only way I could fix it was to treat it like cutting a contour on a rotary. Use planes, set WCS to top, and tool/construction planes to the one I want to work in. Will there be a fix for this before the next version comes out, or will it still be broken then? This used to work fine in previous versions, and now it's broken...
  15. TC,1 allows for manual rotation the umbrella, and you can load/unload tools that if you wanted to. This our first Fadal with a swing arm changer.
  16. I have a Fadal 4020 Multiprocessor CNC (NOT Fanuc control) built in 2007 with the side mount swing arm changer. We also have a few Haas, and the nice thing about the Haas side mount swing arm changers is that if I want my face mill out of the changer, but I forgot what tool it was set as, and I can see it in pocket 5 all I have to do is type P5M6 cycle start and the face mill is brought to the spindle. I've tried this same process on the Fadal and no worky. Anything like this on the above mentioned Fadal? I really don't kiine playing tool changer bingo, and I know if we try to keep a list at the machine someone will forget to update the list.
  17. Absolutely positive. Yer right I may need a little more than a nudge in the right direction, but if let someone else do it for me, I won't learn how to fish... I'm almost thinking that with some of the changes being requested for this post, that I may wanna just start from a clean copy of MPMASTER and go from there.
  18. That's the ticket! Thanks guys.
  19. I've searched and can't find, or the search here just sucks, last 5 searches I've done for things have come up empty. Anyhow, I've updated to 2018 form X8, and I'm finding that alot of the things I had short cuts for, or that there were short cuts for don't exist, or ar not able to be recreated. Example: alt+z opened level list in X8, now it closes it out form the ops manager panel. What is the new shortcut for switching levels in quickly? I had set up the right click menu to allow me to change planes quickly wherever my mouse cursor was on the screen. Can't see how to do that in 2018. I really despise driving my mouse cursor all the way over to the ops manger panel to change levels/planes when i usedtacould be able to do it lickity split... Also where is the list of shortcuts for 2018? I don't think the quick reference card that came with it showed us. I did find undo, so theres that
  20. That solved it thanks guys, 20yrs using Mastercam and features you don't use everyday get forgotten about. Thanks for the refresher.
  21. I'm blind, I've never seen a "filter out duplicates" in the drill point selection dialog in 20yrs...
  22. Here's what posts out if I do 2 ops to get all 13 holes: O0(prog) G20 G91 G28 Z0. G0 G17 G40 G49 G80 G90 M31 T1 M6 G0 G90 G54 X.125 Y0. A45. S2500 M3 M8 G43 H1 Z3. G98 G83 Z2.19 R2.35 Q.075 F15. A22.5 A0. A-22.5 A-45. A-67.5 A-90. G80 G55 X.125 Y0. Z3. A-112.5 G98 G83 Z2.19 R2.35 Q.075 F15. A-135. A-157.5 A-180. A-202.5 A-225. G80 M5 M9 G91 G28 Z0. G28 Y0. A0. M30 It looks like it is breaking the WCS at the point that it goes to the bottom. Is this a post issue? If so how do I fix it? I've never had this issues with this post in previous versions of Mcam.
  23. Trying to do a 4 axis drill(rotary axis, axis control, rotary axis positioning) in 2018 and it will not accept half of my holes when I click them. I tried going back to X8, and it is doing the same thing. I don't remember this being an issue in X7, or previous versions. What's going on here? I have 13 holes equally spaced at 22.5° and Mcam is only acknowledging 7 of them. Not even in the order clicked.
  24. I gotta call bullxxxx here. I've been spoiled by Hurcos FNC programming, I could circle terp bores, mill slots, or pockets with nearly too big tools for years using G41/G42 comp on an arc move. Machine did it no problem. Take the program and change ONLY my post(say to the Fadal format 2, or a Fanuc) and no issues. It runs fine(IIRC, we just got rid our Hurco cuz it was needing more work to keep running). The only time I ever recall having an issue is when I post it to the Haas. Then I have to fumblexxxx around with lead in/out, and then using comp in computer(why bother having comp in control if i can't xxxxing use it). I really find it difficult to believe in 2017(soon 2018) that there isn't a good workaround, or setting for Haas that allows cut comp to be engaged on an arc. It shouldn't xxxxing matter when it gets turned on.
