  1. If anyone has gotten it to work, how do you get it to feed away from the wall before retracting?
  2. Its coming from the NCI, now how do I fix it? MC's own help file says it should do it correctly. "Adjust feedrate on arc moves Adjusts the feed rate to maintain a constant chip load at the peripheral edge of a milling tool or the radius of a turning tool where they contact the stock. For example, Mastercam might speed up the tool on the outside of an arc, or slow it down inside an arc. Click here to print this topic."
  3. Where are the calculations for peripheral feedrate? MC calculates ID and OD feedrates the same way, reducing both. OD feedrate should be faster. I don't see any calculations for that in the post.
  4. I created it in X7, what do I have to do to make it X8? Shouldnt the migration wizard have taken care of that? Seems to be some bugs in the tool manager, I tried to "select library tool" and it used the original MC tool library. I closed it then tried again and now it uses my tool library. !?!??
  5. Happens with creating a new tool also. Go through all the (slow) prompts and click finish, goes back to tool tab with nothing created but leaves another tool selected (which is a REALLY bad thing). I have to restart MC to fix it. Anybody else have this problem?
  6. I just screwed up a bazillion dollar (government supplied material) job because I selected a tool from my library and MC never actually changed it. I couldn't see what the tool was because of another bug that never saves the column widths I choose (which is irritating as hell). I selected a chamfer mill to cut one of the very last features of this one off-rush-job part and MC left it as another tool from a previous way I was going to cut it. I backed it off .100, but couldnt really see what was really going on in the machine (didnt think anything would be wrong, just wanted to double check the size). I had to shut down and restart MC to fix it. This part is such a massive pain in the butt to cut. All kinds of close setups, fixturing, and tooling and I scrap it because of a stupid +/- .02 chamfer and end up looking like a fool.
  7. Where can I find a true type stick font that is just like the mastercam box font? Do stick fonts have another name (engraving fonts?)? Why does Mastercam not give drafting options for their box font?
  8. I was pondering trying to convert a 4th axis toolpath to geometry and using autocad to extrude a chamfer along the toolpath.
  9. I couldn't get mastercam or autocad to chamfer the hole. The job doesn't have the time to surface it (our equipment is big and slow) but I would love to know how to model that. We do get the occasional weld prep job so a heavy step over would be fine.
  10. I am trying to chamfer the edge of a hole that is in the center of a bar. The bar is 3.5" and the hole is 2.36". 3D chamfer works as it should but the chamfer is only correct at the centerline of the bar. I played with the diameter of the bar and got it to work but was wondering if there is a way to make it perfect without trial and error, perhaps a formula or something. I think making the hole an ellipse will work also but again its still trial and error. I have attached a screenshot of the job.
  11. I can stick that anywhere in the top of the post right? Nothing is happening. I have it here -> # Common User-defined Variable Initializations (not switches!) # -------------------------------------------------------------------------- xia : 0 #Formatted absolute value for X incremental calculations yia : 0 #Formatted absolute value for Y incremental calculations zia : 0 #Formatted absolute value for Z incremental calculations bld : 0 #Block delete active result : 0 #Return value for functions sav_spc : 0 #Save spaces sav_gcode : 0 #Gcode saved sav_absinc : 0 #Absolute/Incremental Saved Value sav_coolant : 0 #Coolant saved sav_frc_wcs : 0 #Force work offset flag saved toolchng : 1 #On a toolchange flag spdir2 : 1 #Copy for safe spindle direction calculation scalex$=-1
  12. I am not seeing that variable in the post, do I need to add it?
