Machining since 1979. Started out as a monkey in a second operation department. Multi-spindle screw machines after that. Saw dust on the floor to soak up the oil. Then worked rebuilding screw machines. Various jobs setting up and running engine lathes, VTL's, gun drills, ejector drills etc.... About 1995 or so first shot at CNC equipment. Of course all my experience was turning based so they threw me on a mill. Old Cincinnati Milacron retrofitted with a Mitsubishi control or something. One of the 2 still had the wheels on the side of the cabinet for offset adjustments. Mazak w/Mazatrol control first introduction to programming. Supermax horizontal/vertical ( head actually rotated ),Matsura, Mori Seki, Excel, Haas, Robodrill and a few others. Wrote programs long hand before even heard of Mastercam. Promises of classes for Mastercam training never worked out so bought a book and taught myself 5 or 6 years ago. Once I got the chance to start loved it. Brought machining to a whole new level for me. Always try to keep and open mind so I can continue to learn. Believe you can learn something from anyone.
