Hi,
I have about 100 (1/4-20) blind holes to drill and thread in 304SS.
I have never form tapped before and would like some advise/ know how.
What speeds to you run the machine at, what type of cutting oil? What make of taps is best?
Would thread milling be a better option?
Thanks in advance.
From my experience an stl is pretty much useless for machining, you can do some things but.... I believe Verisurf has a way of converting an stl to surfaces.
I think they are growing in use and popularity from what I can tell. I think shops are moving away from Fanuc?
Just looking for somebody who has used it before.

I have to say that not fixing the existing bugs before releasing a new version is a problem IMHO. If it is an enhancement or an improvement it should be in a future or new release IMHO.
Hi,
I am looking at upgrading my system here soon.
Just wondering how many people are using MAC computers for Mastercam or Solid modeling software? If so which one is best?
How is the performance compared to a regular windows based PC?
Pros and cons?
Thanks in advance!
Welcome to the forum Jim!
Posting a picture will get you more responses directed at solving your problem. Use something like Gadwin print screen to capture a photo.
It sounds like you are trying to cut a tapered boss or wall? As Jay suggested if you are using a tapered cutter you can contour or pocket. If you do not have a tapered cutter and you have the solids option you can surface the taper, this is assuming you have a 3d model (solids and or surfaces).
If you need more help with this let me know.
