  1. As I said in post #2: I case you're not aware, documentation of the vbscript functions available is in VBScript.htm. (in the help subdirectory, under your mastercam installation directory.) There is also SCRIPT56.CHM in the same location, which contains general documentation about the language itself. on my system that's C:\Program Files\mcamx6\help for X6, C:\Program Files\mcamx7\help for X7
  2. Hoping to get some advice on the best methods for using stock models. I've been having good results thus far, but as I get closer to finishing & my file becomes larger & more complex, I'm beginning to have issues. Some stock models won't generate at all, some appear to generate but remain dirty, & some generate but aren't accurate. My file is structured with one Machine / Program group per insert per setup (see attached screen shot). When I get to a logical point I'll create a stock model (generally a tool change). At the next logical point I'll move the existing stock down & add the additional operations to its source. I end up with one stock model per program, which the next programs stock model will use as its initial stock. I'm considering copying rather than moving the stock models & having multiple models per program, but am concerned with the impact that may have on file file size & the added complexity. I'd just try it on one of the simpler inserts, but that's not gonna tell me how the complex inserts are gonna turn out, & as they are they only have 15 or so source operations. Any thoughts or advice appreciated. Edit: I've also attached a screen shot of one of my models with issues. The second slide pocket at the upper left isn't finished & appears to be gouged on the floor. Some of the surfaces on the lower right appear to have lumps of material left on them. There are also stray bits floating out in space.
  3. Well, GetOperationTypeFromID () returns 139, so I have something to work with.
  4. Is there a constant available to detect the new Stock Model operation. (We've just recently moved to X6) I have several scripts which iterate through operations, & need to allow for this new operation type. I've looked through the VBScript documentation for X6 & X7, neither has been modified since 2006.
  5. A stab in the dark... In X6 the one major problem I've had was with thread milling operations. I'd have the same issue you describe. Left them out of the stock model and it generated with no issues. Don't know if X7 has the same issue.
  6. Maybe I'm mis-remembering, but I thought you could dock it along with the Ops. Mgr. I've had it open on my second monitor for years now also. I haven't been able to re-start X6 yet (have some ops. generating) after some random clicking about the menu re-appeared. It comes & goes rather randomly, weird. I'll try to pay more attention to it & get a hold of support if I can come up with something tangible to give them. Edit: Regarding having files open for long periods of time... That's how I've been used to working in X5. I'd generally have 2 sessions open, Core side in one, Cavity in the other. While paths were generating in one session I'd be actively working in the other, each open for days at a time. X6 just isn't stable enough to accomplish this, I'm lucky to be able to keep it open for more than a few hours.
  7. Just had another occurrence. A few minutes prior my event log has an entry reading "this should not happen". (4th entry in the attachment) No idea if it's related, but it's the only thing resembling an error & I see it quite often.
  8. Thanks, I'll give you all the dots you want. Is there a trick to (re)docking Level Manager? Curious to see if that may be the issue.
  9. Using the generic cheapo mouse & keyboard that Dell ships with their desktop systems. X6MU3 I have the issue several times daily. X7SP2 I haven't used enough to notice. X5 I've never had the issue.
  10. I see you have dual monitors. Do you keep level mgr. on the secondary, as I do? I had issues with operations mgr. on the secondary in the past, I keep it docked now.
  11. Thank you for taking the time to be so helpful.
  12. Several times a day the RMB menu ceases to function in level mgr, I have to restart Mastercam in order to regain it. No configuration changes or Windows updates recently. Anyone else experience this? Known issue? This is really adding to my frustration level.
  13. Well I finished the pre heat treat hole work on my main inserts this afternoon. Probably ~200 operations. I don't know how many hundreds (thousands maybe?) are left to do in the rest of the tool. CNC Software, if your listening, please make it stop! Do everyone a favor & make this configureable in the next release. Rick, I have enough to do, I don't need to do it twice.
  14. Well it just keeps getting better, I've just rediscovered this old nemesis. I'm gonna send CNC Software the bill for my carpal tunnel surgery. I'm sorry but Mastercam is the... oh, nevermind, finished whining (for now).
  15. Haha, Been working on something else for the last couple hours, with X6 just sitting there in the background doing nothing. It just up & dies out of nowhere. Thinking that may qualify for steamer status.
