  1. I haven't called our reseller yet. I've done some pretty heavy post mods in the past and figured I may end up doing some to get one going for this machine. Based on the feedback here, I don't think that control is too popular. I'll give our reseller a call. Maybe when Greg_J gets back tomorrow, he'll have a bit more input. quote: Making telephone poles??? Nah... I'm guessing corn silos for Midwest! LOL Honestly, not sure what we'll be turining in that machine other than I'm sure it'll be big.
  2. We have machines with Heidenhain mill controls but this will be our first with a lathe control. I know the lathe control is considerably different than their mill controls. It appears that the lathe control is Much more conversational than the mill controls I am familiar with. I was wondering if anyone used one of the lathe controls and if so, do they use the conversational or iso programming with Mastercam. Also, Is the MPLMaster post good with moderate tweaking or will it be a major overhaul? Just trying to be ahead of things. The machine should arrive mid April. Horizontal lathe, over 32Ft between centers, 67" swing, 80,000lb capacity. It will be fun...
  3. :Bump: Anyone?? --<< Crickets Chirping >>--
  4. Has anyone dealt with the Heidenhain Manual Plus 4110 lathe control through Mastercam? We are getting a new machine in the next couple of months that will have this control and was wondring if anyone has had any experience working with one. What post do you use? Custom? MPLmaster? Self developed? I'm just trying to get a heads up before it arrives so I'm somewhat prepared. Thanks for your input
  5. lturret$ is what I check in my post for our VTL. To get this to work, I setup my machine def to have an upper and lower turret. I then make sure the tool is created using the correct turret in the settings. Then make sure the correct axis combo is selected in the parameters of the toolpath. This worked for me. YMMV Rick
  6. I'd like the Spongebob IPT if you could. Thanks a bunch!
  7. Pete, If we go farther with them, I'll make sure our sales dept. asks for the X_T or X_B instead of the sat. I want this to work as easily as possible. However, more than likely we'll look into a translator so they can leave their files in their native format and we can just import them.
  8. This model is from a potential customer. If we do begin doing business with them, we'll either get a translator or see if they can send them in a different format such as .sat. Thanks all for your help. Ron, when did you make the move to Verisurf? You working with Tim Martinez over there? He was here about 9 months ago doing training for us. He's a good guy. Very helpful. As for the add on, with things the way they are right now I know we probably won't be into any purchases unless we have to. You could have your people contact our people if you like though so we have an idea. We should be on your list...
  9. Thanks to those who offered to help. My file is converted now. Thanks again
  10. Thanks, File's on it's way...
  11. We got a unigraphics .prt file from a customer for quoting. However, we do not have the translator to bring the file into Mastercam. The customer said their engineering Dept may be able to get us a .sat file of the model but it will take a while (as it goes through their channels). I was wondering if someone could help me out and convert the file to MCX or .sat? If so, I could upload it to the FTP. Thanks in advance, Rick
  12. Things have slowed down tremendously here... People getting cut back to 4 day weeks. Steel producers are our biggest customers and when they hurt ... we hurt.
  13. I haven't played around with resource hacker in years. Would have never thought of using it in a practical manner like that. I used to use it to swap out startup pictures in windows.
  14. Wow, been busy workin' didn't see the post till now... Could you start with the five from the bottom up??? 3XL for me...
  15. For printing, I agree completly. I use MC to print and don't go through any of the capture options. I usually use either Verisurf's or X+'s capture to eliminate a click / and or to make a white background for a capture I need to either edit in paint or capture to the clipboard. I then use this to paste into the setup sheet to illustrate setups. I find, as the old addage says, a picture is indeed worth a thousand words. I don't use the print screen key typically because I don't like to edit out the title bar, status bar and menu's. I'm a little lazy that way When it comes to screen shots in MC, there are definately many ways to do this. Probably none a whole lot better than others. And mostly, I would think, personal preference. Rick
  16. You could use the snapshot feature of X+ if you really want the blue. It just doesn't open paint for you. But it will copy the screen image to your clipboard, and/or create a png file image, and/or leave your background color or change it to white. I used that all the time prior to Verisurf's module. (I use the white bg). It's an easy single click button you can add to your toolbar.
  17. We use Kennametal top-notch also for butress applications. You can also get inserts for their top notch tools for acme or standard 60 deg V thread.
  18. I had an issue also that they logged as a bug. Forum - Link
  19. quote: I think you found the bug! You can not select to change a surface to the Gradient background color set in your config. That was what I was trying to say in my earlier response. In my case, I use gradient but my graphics bg color was white. (Which I never see) However if I would manually change an entity to that color, it would disappear. Changing the graphics bg color to anything else would make the entity re-appear. I never tried it with one of my gradient colors. So apparantly this will happen if you change an entity color to any of the "3" graphics or gradient background colors?? I guess they realized they didn't want to do this thus the locking out of the button for the given color, but didn't prevent a user from typing it in manually.
  20. I think it's lbs / cubic inch.
  21. White is probably your graphics background color. I had white as my background color but was using a gradient. If I change the color of an entity to white, it would "Get deleted" while still showing in level manager. However if after doing that I would change my regular graphics background color to something other than white, turn off the level it was on then thurn the level back on, it would mysteriously came back. I showed this behavior to my co-worker and just decided "not to do that anymore". I can replicate it with any background color. One note, I normally select my entity to change the color of, right click the color tab at the bottom, and then you HAVE to type the color number in the box. You cannot "Click" the color as the background color is locked out from clicking just not typing...
  22. I'm sorry, I meant where the walls meet at a 90 to each other. If the cutter followed the path of the wall, it would make a 90 degree movement in the corners on x/y. If you drew a diagonal from the sharp 90 degree corner through the center of your cutter (the 45 I mentioned) it would be greater than your tool radius. That can create a cusp in the "corner" between passes even though the stepover is small enough to create overlap for straight moves. HTH, Rick
