eMastercam, since it's inception, has always been a community site for Mastercam users. Nothing changes that. Users will continue to help users and we still monitor it regularly.
-
I wasn't sure whether to pin this topic or not - I guess pinning it meant it got missed: http://www.emastercam.com/board/topic/78088-board-issues-read-this-please/
The "new look" came out of necessity. The old skin wasn't compatible and we needed to do upgrades across the board. There were enough changes between versions that necessitated starting from scratch, so yet it looks different but it's not a huge departure.
-
In case you don't frequent the Community Center, here's the lowdown:
- Board has been upgraded which prompted a slightly updated skin. Blog post here.
- If you are having issues, it's most likely because you need to clear your browser's cache. There's a topic about this already here.
- If you are testing your ability to use forum functions, the best place to do that is in our Test Forum here.
- As for any other bugs you may encounter, if a topic hasn't been started for it yet, please do so in the Community Feedback forum here.

Any eBook purchase lets you download the HLE as well

An announcement has been made in the Community Updates forum but thought I'd share it here as well.

This is getting interesting. I uploaded some pics with a brief description in Project 1 but they didn't stick. I'll try again later.
Hrm, did you get an error at all?
Edit: did you use the red "create album" button? or select an image below that? Right now I have it set to just accept individual images rather than allowing albums (forgot that "create album" was so prominent). But if people have multiple pictures per project it would make more sense to require everyone to create their own album within a project - and perhaps more obvious as well. I'll make the change.
Edit 2: if you now Upload > Create New Album, it should work.
-
I have now opened up a section in the gallery. If you want to share screenshots of a particular project, it's there to do so.
Currently this area is just visible to members, at least until some pics get up loaded and/or we decide otherwise:

I have just edited the mime-type masks to allow for emcx-x files. I've also moved the first project thread to the sub-forum, but left a link (for now) in the main EDU forum so people don't think it just up and disappeared
Edit: I just added a "eMC Learning Group Schedule" view to the calendar:
Rotary, I'll leave it to you to add "events" to indicate when new projects are kicking off etc.

I have created an eMC Learning Group member group. I have also added a sub-forum beneath the Educational Forum. There's a new area that does not currently appear under Downloads but is linked to from the "Resources" topic in the eMC Learning Group sub-forum.
In summary: being added to the eMC Learning Group currently grants you access to post in the eMC Learning Group sub-forum, access the downloads (file sharing) section for the group, access the HLE download and a higher total storage limit for uploading attachments directly to posts. We will see how this evolves but I have a few more ideas for what group members might be able to do in the future.
To gain access to the eMC Learning Group for now, please PM myself or Daniel Gingras.
Good idea. I still get problems using Filezilla to upload anything to the FTP. My files show up there 0 KB. It must be a throttling error or something. I can upload to my wife's website and my brother's FTP just fine. So I can't figure it out. Webby said he would setup a section on the website here to make it easier for everyone to upload their files to. That will make it nice so we can all just link to the files in our posts.
> As mentioned, this is now set up. We can discuss folder structure to keep things organized.
I was thinking to start this out all official like we could start a new thread for each project. Since this was just a test project to kind of gauge everyone's abilities I was thinking we could label the threads MLG - Project 1 - Project Name Here. That way the discussion focuses on the project at hand. And anyone still working on the previous project can still post in the previous project's thread and not interfere with the current project. Does that make sense?
> Personally, I think this makes perfect sense, especially now that the sub-forum is set up.
I think RayD is right and 2 weeks may be a good amount of time for everyone to get their project done.
Ray also suggested we put some real world limitations on each project. So lets say you have to use Mill Level 1 to complete certain projects. Or you have to program it for a certain type of machine. Things like that. I think that would be a good idea.
> If it ads any value, the calendar can be used to keep people informed of the schedule and which part the majority of people are working on.

A (large) number of IPs have been blocked due to an attack on our server.
Bill, PM your IP address and I'll have a look.

Up in the download section.
Seeing as there's still demand, I can replace the linked site with an X4 file if you want Ernie. Looks like the X5 link still goes to a live ShareFile page.

Nice. Thanks for testing. It's a temporary fix but a fix it seems nonetheless.
-
Try refreshing the site (Ctrl+F5) and trying again. I may have found a fix.

It's now the featured video on eMastercam.tv... just the thumbnails aren't showing up yet.
-
It'll be posted here on eMastercam once it's ready (with permission).

I gave the consumer preview a whirl on some old hardware. Hated it.
I have the release preview and RTM trial on two boxes now and it absolutely flies. While it's not "hard" to go back to a W7 system, there are a number of improvements they've done that make me want to upgrade at least some of my systems.
Edit: @newbeeee, Skydrive is Microsoft's answer to Google Drive and Apple iCloud. It's been around for years and has been getting more useful as time goes on. Basically you get between 7-25GB of free online storage so you can access your files/media on virtually any internet connected device.

Strange. I just tried with IE9 x64 without even being logged in and it worked (as it should).
I'll dig a little deeper.
Edit: sent you a private message.

Mastercam X6 was only recently re-released (this week). Give them a chance, it'll likely be up soon.
If you look again though, Mastercam X6 release is in fact in the downloads section on Mastercam's site: http://www.mastercam...default.aspx#X6

Thanks gcode, added to the Downloads > Tools section as well: http://www.emastercam.com/board/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=364

Hi Cuzzi23,
Thanks for sharing the kind words. And thanks to everyone that does contribute and help others - that's what this site is all about!

Can any one from CNC Software or IN-house, verify that the X6 disc I received at X6
roll out is the exacted same install as the Down loadable version?
It was in fact RTM as of the Cambridge rollout.
-
Andres, You'll likely get more responses in the Industrial Forum.

I'm trying to download my MCx5 software and I keep getting a 1603 error and it also says to consult windows installer help (msi.chm) or msdn. Please help!!!!!
Hi,
Can you give us more information like what operating system you are trying to install this on? Have you had previous versions of the Mastercam software installed? Are we talking about the Home Learning Edition, full educationsl suite or another version?
Free mastercam learning resources?

While it does currently require venturing into the store, we do have some free tutorials on this page, right here on eMC.
