  1. There are companies that make fire suppression systems for machine tools. They are enclosed systems with robust ventilation, smoke and heat detectors. and the capacity to close all the vents and flood the enclosure with halon. I've seen video of them before.. I'll bet they are not cheap.
  2. Does your laptop have only one video card? If it's only got 1 Intel HD graphics card, you are going to need a new machine However, many laptops come with 2 video cards . 1 for low power general use and a second for gaming and other apps that required more graphics power. If you have 2 video cards in your machine, go into the BIOS and force it to using the gaming card all the time.
  3. We used to light up a handful of chips on the cement loading dock. It gets the cement so hot it explodes leaving golf ball sized divots in the cement. That's not real bright from a safety standpoint, but it was tons of fun. There's lots of video on youTube of machine tools burned out by magnesium fires.
  4. I think they are called halon fire extinguishers also keep buckets of sand near by rigorous chip control is required. clean the chips out constantly. fine stringers are particularly dangerous.
  5. This should work Select all operations right click select edit operations/Change NC Filename also select all the toolpaths then Select Files and set your output folder It you don't have ASK and Edit enabled in the Post Dialog, it may be posting one operation and sending the rest somewhere else.
  6. The Mastercam MP Reference Manual is available for download from Mastercam.com. It's not easy to find, but your dealer should be able to help
  7. This is by design The "crap" is your 2023 My Mastercam public and private files You'll need those to migrate your 2023 default settings, operation settings and post processors to 2024. Most people just install the new release then migrate the 2023 files to the new release. I normally leave 3 releases on my machine
  8. In V9, nesting was an add-on module you had to purchase. Once you purchased it you received access codes to allow it to run. I would be very surprised in you could even purchase those codes today V9 is 20+ years old now and no longer supported.
  9. I could be wrong, but I don't think you can post with the educational version of Mastercam,
  10. We done this with a couple of old Mitsubishi HMC's that have pallets. It works just fine... As an added bonus, our maintenance people can build a new cable and rewire the rotary table with their eyes closed because they've done it so many times. At least once a year someone doesn't check the cables before calling up a pallet change. The rotary table's cables lose that fight every time.
  11. I like accessing the Stock page with this button as it takes you straight to the stock page Once you've set your stock you can launch Verify. It's much quicker than Toolpaths/Files/Simulation
  12. Doesn't Windows have an auto restart after crash switch as well?
  13. This is from the free Haas 5X Trunion post "Generic Haas VF-TR_Series 5X Mill.pst" that is available from Mastercam.com Your post may have something like this You'll need to set "use first wcs" to no$ There are also work offset settings in the Transform operation that will need to be set properly. #Work offsets workofs$ : -1 #Initialize work offset force_wcs : yes$ #Force WCS output at every toolchange? use_frst_wcs : yes$ #Use only the first WCS read and ignore all others in NCI extoffset : 1 #Extended workoffsets Output Type; 0 outputs G110-G129; 1 outputs G154 P1-P99
  14. Years ago I came in one morning and the entire programming department was down. After a lot of trouble shooting the cause was determined to be a Windows update We were all running Dells with Nvidia Quadro video cards, A Windows update had installed Dell video drivers which rendered our machines unusable. We uninstalled the Dell drivers and replaced them with official Nvidia drivers and all was good. Check your Windows update history and see if Windows has been playing silly games with your video drivers A fancy new 4K monitor may be the cause too. There is an article in the knowledge base at Mastercam.com on how to fix this problem
  15. Did IT update your video drivers overnight??
  16. Try changing those 2 misc reals values to 3
  17. The backup utility is your friend. I don't know how many times it's saved me from crashes, fat fingers and brain farts.
  18. If you are running an the generic 5X post look for this switch use_frst_wcs : no$ #Use only the first WCS read and ignore all others in NCI If it's set to yes, it will post the first work offset it encounters. If it's set to no it will post every work offset it encounters and you must be sure you have them all set correctly
  19. I would open the post up in a text editor and check out the first couple of pages There are usually a bunch of switches you can turn off and on 0 = off. 1 = on
  20. You could get an APT to gcode post built. I've got an old V9 vintage one that I haven't used in 20 years and most post developers offer them. The problem is, almost every MTB that uses APT have their own personal flavor of APT. Building an edit free APT to gcode post would be a lot of work.
  21. Are these toolpaths using some plane other than TOP?? Try right clicking inside the Tool Manager and select "Create Tool Assembly" This is a much better way to build tools assemblies IMO
  22. These two files came in OK for me in 2024 For the tool holder I translated it so that the gage line of the holder was at the orign ( Translate to Origin) then used Solids/ Trim tp Plane ( Top) to remove the taper How are you doing this I use the Mill Assembly Designer in the Tool Manager
  23. can you upload a file that is not working properly
  24. well, considering that the owners of many small machine shops are doing well to break even in any given month, 4 hours of his working for free might have been the better option LOL
  25. Are you building these assemblies in the Holder page of individual toolpaths or by using "Edit Assembly" in the Tool Manager. The Tool Manager is a much better way to go IMO
