  1. If you're a pirate, you just download the next release from Cracks-R-US and reap the benefits of the hard work and $$$ legal users have invested in improving the software. That's just one more reason why pirates are scumbags.
  2. The sample he posted from Tebis was not roughing It was a finish toolpath, just like the sample I did in MC Admittedly, I did not do the floor and the wall with one toolpath, but we don't know if he did either. The trouble with Mastercam Optirough is it uses the tallest stock value to determine where is goes to retract. There have been occasions where I've used the new STL tools to chop my stock model down to keep the retracts low.
  3. You will need to download a utility that validates that a Mastercam license is attached to your computer. It will then give you a code that allows you to register. Once you've registered you can access the forum from any computer, but you have to revalidate your license once a year. If you want to talk to the people that develop Mastercam, this is the place to be. Create an account
  4. straight machine sim? yes all the time Postability Machinesim is much better, One thing Vericut does than Machine Sim can't is Autodiff
  5. Your license cannot leak out. It is not included in the file. The license number of the hasp that created the file is included in the file. Only a dealer's hasp can see that number. This is a forum for legal users. If you read the Terms of Agreement when you signed up, you'll see the administrators of this forum can request your license number and ban you if you fail to provide it. That is rare as we normally operate on the honor system. As for the ethical issues, using stolen software makes the user a liar and a thief. Many of the users here are private contractors who compete on the open market for work. A thief with a stolen seat of Mastercam can work cheaper than a person with a legal seat. Personally, I purchased Mastercam with my own money in 1998 and have kept it current ever since... and I have lost a lot of work to contractors and companies running stolen software. It took a lot of money and sacrifice over the years to keep my seat current and I have no use for liars and thieves using stolen software.
  6. I use Machine Sim from Postability on our Okuma 5X HMC's It is linked to the post but I don't believe it runs on actual gcode. It is very useful for instantly checking the stability and smoothness of 5X toolpaths. Of course the final program goes through Vericut before it hits the machine.
  7. You can strip your personal data out of a zip2go during the creation process.
  8. If a new users posts a file, someone with a dealer's sim can run a utility that returns the hasp number that created the file If a pirate uploads a file, he reveals himself as a liar and a thief ... and gets smacked with a ban hammer.
  9. Depends on the machine and the part We've got an old giant HBM that rapids at 200 ipm on it's best days and a Ø100 diameter part with 12 legs 14" tall. The job is to put big fillets on the corners of the legs and the edges of the valleys between the legs. I recently reprogrammed it using 3d high speed toolpaths similar to the sample I posted. I got the cycle time down from 120 hours to 45. The bosses were pleased.
  10. open System Config go to the Start/Exit page and uncheck "Automatic Restart"
  11. MC 2024 3D high speed . quick and dirty 3D HIGH SPEED.zip
  12. Change "Keep tool down" to a value larger than the length of the part
  13. "C:\Program Files\Mastercam 2025\documentation\en\WhatsNew\index_CSH.htm" or click on the little "?" in the upper right corner or ALT H
  14. I got the email at 5:25AM PST yesterday morning and download the file at 5:28 AM Thought I'd get it before the rush.
  15. Your dealer can get you straightened out quickly, or you can download a fresh copy from the Tech Exchange on Mastercam.com.
  16. There are a few apps out there that will let you run a 3D Connexion device over VPN. Our IT department let me install one of them and try it. It worked but the response time was too slow to be useable.
  17. Thank's, as you may have noticed, all I know about Mastercam's API is how to spell it. LOL! You'd think that with all the effort CNC is putting into using solids to drive toolpaths, they put some effort into making the Import Manager support solids as well
  18. My reason for stating this is because.. If you import operations from another file that use solid surfaces and select "Import Geometry", neither the solid nor the solid surface are imported into the new file. At least that has been my experience.
  19. Are these solid surfaces, selected by clicking a solid face or faces? I'm pretty sure such surfaces don't really exist. They are derived from the solid each time you hit regen... and if they don't exist, you can't translate them
  20. It wouldn't be wasted, the principles are the same, we just have better tools in MC2024 than we had in X8
  21. Without having a copy of the file I can't recommend a good solution I would just post a dummy drill cycle at a different B location that punches a hole in a safe place in the sky. After posting, just delete the dummy drilling toolpath and you are good to go
  22. I still run the same USB Hasp I had back then so I assume I could still run X8 but I would HATE it. At some point it gets cheaper to just buy a new license than to update an old license that's been off maintenance for years. I don't know how MC dealers in the UK roll, but with my dealer that would certainly be the case. edit.. Occasionally Mastercam will have "come back to Jesus" sales, where they wave some penalties on old out of date licenses. They usually do this as part of the sales pitch when a new release comes out. In this case that would be version 2025 due out early this summer. However, I have no idea if they will do such a sale this year.
  23. or the guy who just quit, got laid off or was fired
  24. Just take them out back and light them up! They'll be gone in no time .
