  1. Glad you got it worked out IMO, you're leaving a lot of $$$ on the table watching that i5 spin it's wheels but if you're happy....
  2. This computer doesn't even meet Minimum Specs for a Mastercam machine It looks like you are doing some reasonably heavy work. You need a better computer
  3. Open the Plane Manager Right click the Mystery Plane Select Report Mastercam will generate a txt file that tells you all about that plane and what it is being used for
  4. I think the holder in the spindle should always be the primary holder because there will always be a holder in the spindle.
  5. 2025 Tech Preview is already out..and I'm already using it for simple one and done fixture work and stuff
  6. I made a stock model out of your part and used that on the Stock page of the first operation That looks like it solved the problem The same approach did not work for the 5X drill toolpath.
  7. There is a reason for this Hit File/Help/About You'll see this.. Mastercam runs on the Siemens Parasolid kernel . To me, it's common sense that Parasolid files would yield the best results when importing models.
  8. My first choice would be parasolids X_T or X_B. Second choice would be STEP Dead last choice, drug kicking and screaming to the alter, would be IGES No matter what you use I don't think X4 is going to import the part names. The newer releases will do that when importing parasolids X_T or X_ B
  9. We spent north of a quarter million setting this place up with Predator about 5 years ago. I tried to get them to talk to Cimco, but the deal was already done. The Cimco rep got a courtesy meeting and was shown the door. The implementation was 50+ machines ranging from 40 years old to modern Fanuc and Okuma controls. Many are ethernet to RS232 , newer ones are ethernet and a few are wireless. This is a public forum and I'm not going to post my opinions on the system here, other than to say the rollout was painful and remains so to this day. My advice is to get a copy of the operator's manual for both systems and spend some time with them.
  10. looking at my Cimco download folder it looks like they put out a new release ever 2 months or so I see 2 releases in Oct 2023 Years ago I reported a bug directly to Cimco in Denmark. They issued a new release fixing that bug the same week.
  11. If your machines have through coolant, I would concider thru coolant reamers as well Hannibal Reamers Their tech support and Reaming Guides are excellent.
  12. If you really want all that ram buy the machine with 8g of low ball, upgrade it your self and save some money
  13. closer to $5K It was originally $5.2k because I ordered it with 128g of super fast ram. They downgraded me to 64g of slower ram, and refunded $400 because they said 128g of fast ram and the 5,4 ghz overclocking I requested might not be stable. We have 3 similar machines to this here in the office plus my personal machine at home and have had zero problems with any of them to date. edit.. they are offering a newer model i9 now, OC'd to 6ghz!!
  14. and I forgot to mention there are extensive MA Ford drill and endmill libraries available for download from the Tech Exchange at Mastercam.com
  15. The PC in my siggy is from Xi, purchased about 3 months ago. I paid about $4800 for it and it does a good job. Our file sizes can run to 650 to 700 meg, and the physical parts can get to the size of a 2 car garage and weigh in north of 100k pounds. I put this hardware in a sound deadened case with extra fans for the video card because I get tried of listening to the video card fans howl. The case fans are quiet and the processor is liquid cooled and silent as well. I can still hear the video card when things get busy but the machine is MUCH quieter than the Boxx machine it replaced. So far it has been an excellent machine.
  16. Does it make any difference is you select a surface made from the solid (perhaps on it's own level???) or select the solid surface?
  17. Try exporting that mesh as an stl file and use the stl file to define your stock model. If you don't want to do that, make sure that mesh is on a level by itself and that is the only active level when you process your stock model I have no idea if either of these will help, I'm just throwing out ideas to see if anything helps.
  18. If you have 2024 installed and your machine is connected to the internet, the autoupdate utility should alert you to it's availability and ask you if you want to install it. or go to the Start Menu, open Mastercam 2024 and chose " check for update" If your machine is not connected to the internet, you will need to go to Mastercam.com and download it from the Downloads page. You will need to set up an account to do this
  19. MC2024 Update 5 was released this morning. Baring the discovery of a mission critical bug, it will be the last update for Mastercam 2024. The beta sites are testing MC2025 now.
  20. I would delete this file "C:\Users\*** your username ***\Documents\My Mastercam 2024\Mastercam\CONFIG\Mastercam.Workspace" and launch Mastercam It will generate a fresh default file. This will also delete any customization you have done however.
  21. This bug used to drive me insane, but it's been a couple of releases since I've had that trouble.
  22. Mastercam for SolidWorks was discontuniued when Sandvik bought Mastercam out. MC2023 MCfSW was the last release.
  23. You're going to want to look at Catia or NX for that.
