  1. We use G86 bore stop retract for the same reason MKD stated. We had problems with holes being over size. Have had no troubles since
  2. We do not have the 50 taper machines, but we have two sister vf-2's and one had really bad clunking noises in the transmission for a long time. it took a lot of looking into it and multiple visits from Haas tech's and finally a new transmission and motor were installed. The machine has not bothered since with that problem. I believe they have a certain protocol of things they have to check and try before they can do a warranty on a transmission. We do warm up every morning also. The machines give a message sometimes and require you to do one if the machine sits too long over a cold weekend.
  3. I really like the fact that the $ on an insert is less than a spot drill! and you can move right along with these. The radius inserts are wonderful too, We started using these over Harvey corner rounding tools and I am impressed.
  4. We have switched our spot drills to them because they are cheaper than solid carbide and have a smaller tip flat. Also the holder will hold 1-3mm corner rounding inserts which is a plus. We recently bought a larger tool holder to hold 4 5 and 6mm radius inserts. I love the tools.
  5. Ended up having this problem yesterday, after reading this forum of all days. I ended up using an m97 with a p line number call, since my sub was after my M30. It worked great. I was glad to read this forum first. i wonder if you have macros can you use a GOTO command?
  6. Sorry. I think i misunderstood what you wanted to change the font size of.
  7. right click on the information box and it will give you a choice of three font sizes.
  8. Uncle_doolan. We use astroid ball here on solid edge. It worked great for that. It did absolutely nothing in mastercam. I ended up spending 59.00 that the company would spend for a g13 LOGITECH gaming board. The shop would not spend the money for the space mouse. What i have works well you can make macros to do certain keystrokes by pushing one keystroke. Rotate uses a key and moving the mouse. Not Ideal, but it works.
  9. We have seco boring heads here that have modular parts to adjust the length of. Seco also has the Precifix line which looks like a good route too. It is in their holemaking book page 304
  10. I have run routers with very long linear bearings with nasty abrasive fiberglass and all other things imagined. The dust collector is key to keeping the stuff out of the bearings. I would think a higher flow of grease could also help purge foreign material from the bearings. The one thing I think every one is missing. You can now just replace a couple of rails and your machine was as new! I think HAAS parts are reasonablely priced some things are crazy though like the grease, But We sourced it locally and got it in a 5 gallon bucket.
  11. When I first started, I think I crashed about everything I put my hands on. Thankfully I worked someplace that I had multiple opportunities for mistakes, benefit of working for a large company. I learned fast though. Now I have 16 years, experience. I see the new guys doing the same stuff I used to do.
  12. When we had our Vf-9 installed the Haas tech actually did that right after he got the touch off probe indicated in and set up. He had a dummy tool in the spindle not the prob, lucky us.
  13. Roatary, I totally agree on the Vf-2's. We have a Vf-9 that is a different story.... I wish there were a remote place to load the tools on that maching instead of climbing in and pushing the button on the head to load and unload tools for a setup.
  14. I believe it is in the machine definition area of mastercam. I have mine set so that it adds 1001 to what ever my main program is set to. I set my main program to 1000, 2000, 3000 etc. the sub will come in program 1000 as 2001 and so on.
