  1. Had a bad thing happen back in the day. Used a water based coolant and it caused corrosion on the Mag. After plating we got orange peel. The shop lost big money. After that we stored in process parts submerged in Kerosene. Ya sounds crazy, the idea was storing parts in a oxygen free invironment. Probably a better way now, but it worked and we never had a fire.
  2. In some cases we will increase the stock length on the end we hold on to. we have also machined a shape on the clamping end that aids in part orientation or the timing of particular features for future operations.
  3. I have that problem when i try to save a tool in any other catagory than undefined. If you have saved your insert Ball Mill in the Ball End Mill Catagory Try changing it to the undefined catagory.
  4. Maintain your depth cuts. You dont have to ramp. takes too much time. Depth should be aroud 50% of tool Dia and I would use Multi-pass with a .002-.003 thou finish pass. That should reduce your 4 min cut time. Let us know what works best.
  5. Forget the ramp. Rough drill 1 hole in the center of the slot a little bigger than your End Mill and drop in and 2d contour it. you will save time.
  6. Tool Libraries are designed to be modified for your specific needs. It would be impossible to design one for all applications. I have 5 different Tool Libraries that are set up for different material types. I also have machine specific Tool Libraries that are customized to take advantage of higher spindle speeds.
  7. Use a good rich mix on your coolant or use tapping fluid if possible and peck tap if you have that capability.
  8. In the screen shot your showing I drag the tool I want up to the part tool list and it retains its library tool #. Then I change it to what I want. You might look in properties under tool setting and see if the box labeled assign tools sequentially is checked. I have had similar problems and just edited my tool numbers.
  9. Be sure to include what level of mastercam you are using.
  10. How old is old. We have rigid tapping on ours and they date back to '94. Ive never heard of using G95. On non-rigid machines we used spring heads.
  11. Your geometry might consist of splines not arcs BTW Welcome to the Forum
  12. We also make a habit of keeping the groups manager cleared out so we dont experience the "ops manager shuffle" but we call it getting masterf*#$ed.
  13. I was getting the same thing last week and it would post everything but 90 degrees. So Iwent back into the WCS and created the views instead of copying Top, Front etc. and then It worked with no error message. Go figure!
  14. Ive heard good revues about them. What would be the advantage of this machine over a Haas?
