  1. I take it back... Mastercam is either not ready for 4K, or I need an even bigger vieo card.... Every time I create an entity, like a line for example, the screen flashes... I can work with it, but it's annoying as hell.. The resolution is still a problem. If you make the icons and fonts bigger, they overlap... Lame....
  2. Sooo..... I upgraded my monitor to a 28" 4k ( http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/monitors/LU28D590DS/ZA ) and my video card to handle the 3820 X 2160 resolution... And it is excellent... Still trying to work out settings for MasterCam though... The clarity is unreal.. And the icons are perfectly clear, however borderline microscopic... Even setting it to "large icons" makes them about 5/32" tall. The text in my operations manager is still too small, but very readable.. Up close... With my old eyes.. lol.. But, overall.... I would say DO IT !!!!!!
  3. Yep.. That sounds right.. I started using the IMCO M525 Enduro endmills and get a lot better tool life.. I cut 304 all day.. Except I do use coolant... With the Enduro 5 fluter I'm running a 1/2" at 3050 RPM and 105 IPM.. 1.25" depth of cut... 10% stepover.. The dynamic contouring toolpath is just awesome.. I love it.. It's changed everything in my shop.. Cycle times are way down. Tooling costs are way down..
  4. It really depends how and what you are cutting.. 7075 cuts different than 6061.. The IMCO catalog specs out the feeds and speeds for the streakers.. It is pretty fast.. I run them on Haas mills also.. I don't have the catalog with me, but I'm thinking around 1200 SFM with about .005-.007 Chipload.. 1/2" endmill ( Streaker 3 Flute ) I run about 9200 rpm, 165 IPM when slotting, I try not to go more than .75d to 1Xd on the depth per pass.. Chip evacuation is EVERYTHING!! Blast it with the highest pressure of coolant to can... And after finally getting a Haas with the high speed machining unlocked in the control, it runs way better at those speeds.. You can go faster than that when side milling...
  5. I cut Nitronic 50, Nitronic 50 High Strength, and Nitronic 60 quite often... Using that Sandvik R300 button cutter try using the S30-T grade.. Most of the Sandvik reps are just learning about it as it is very new.. Run about 325 SFM with about .008 chip load per tooth.. And as deep as your horsepower will allow.. NO, I repeat, NO coolant... The thermal shock is what is killing your inserts.. I've also had a lot of luck with Walters facemills with the insert on 45 deg.. Also, NO coolant..
