  1. servo gain is definately not a problem according to service.
  2. just got back to work and read thru all of the replies to our peel mill situation.to help clarify a few things the machine is out of warranty. 3 years old with low hours.bearings are grease packed with no way to regrease other than remove and repack.we have had 2 service calls for new bearings.both times after running the same peel mill program.second time we were told it was the progam causing the damage.i posted this on the mastercam forum to see if this is a known problem with any machine and also as a warning so no one else does the damage to their machine that we did.we will be talking to fanuc in the near future about the bearing issue with the drive moter.the drive moter is still on the machine and has not been repaired yet.one other thing to add is that we had very little down time as boldt was quick to service the machine on both occasions.we still would like to know.how much stroke is enough?one thing for certain we will not be running peel mill with a small stroke again.thanks to everyone for the replies so far.
  3. boldt is the dealer and the machine is 3 years old
  4. we were running a mori seiki nv5000 using a .187 dia endmill cutting a .205 wide slot 33.5 inches long using peel mill.cycle time was 35 minutes. total pcs ran was 22.machine went to xyz home after each part.shortly after this job we noticed a noise from our y axis.our mori dealer checked the machine and informed us the bearings on the y axis ball screw were shot along with the bearings in the drive moter.they are blaming the peel mill program.they said there was not enough stroke to lubricate the bearings.they will not tell us the minimum stroke that is required to lube the bearings.has anyone else had this promblem or know the minimum distance?tool life was unbelievable using the peel mill and it was really the first time we tried the program.may be the last until we get a distance.by the way the machine has 2500 hrs on it
  5. i am leaving for the day.i will check back monday.thanks

  7. need to set up 2 feed rates when drilling.we are drilling .043 diameter holes.1st drill is drilling .060 deep for a pilot.the second drill has longer flutes to enable us to get through the part which is .300 thick.tech people are informing us we need to run at .001 per rev. until we engage the bottem of the pilot hole then increase to .003 per rev.looking for g code help now unless it is an easy thing to do in mastercam.we are running a fanuc 18imb on a mori seiki nv 5000 with mastercam x3
  8. 3rd string,thanks for the help. bob k.
  9. when using xform translate to move geometry and tool path and regenerate everything works fine.when using xform translate to copy geometry and toolpath all I can get to copy is the geometry with no option to regenerate tool path.is there any way to get copy to also copy tool path? thanks bob k.
  10. CNCMIKE, I used the cimco inside mastercam to drip with and it worked fine.Still cannot get the mastercam editor to work.Be sure to be in tape mode on your control when trying to drip.Hit send file in cimco and then press go on your control.Be prepared because the program is going to start.Hope this helps. B.K.
  11. Mike,We are using a Fanuc system 16.We are not having any problems sending and receiving programs when using mastercam editor. Just when trying to drip feed.I am going to look into the cimco as suggested and give it a try. This should work if it is similar to the trial version that I downloaded. Thanks to everyone for the quick responses. I`ll post some follow up as soon as I can get to the machine. Thanks again.
  12. Hi folks,I am new to using the forum so please bear with me.I am currently using x2mr2 mill. Our company has a Fanuc control with limited memory. In the past we could drip feed programs using smartcam.I tried the same thing with mastercam and could not get it to work.I downloaded a trial version of Cimco and it also worked.I have contacted our reseller and they claim mastercam is incapable of drip feeding.Just wanting to make sure that is correct and if so are they planning a fix. Thanks B.K.
