  1. Thank you for the help guys!!! much appreciated :)
  2. Hey Guys, thanks for the input! the origin is currently seen in Pic 1. the front left of the block. once i ZERO all other xyz's from any created planes that will then put those plans at the origin, which means if im using abolute my retracts will be insane. However using incremental it can work but then between toolpaths it wont pull all the way back. the work around has been to just run one set of operations at a time. not a big deal but annoying. Your explanation sounds more reasonable when explained that way haha
  3. Hello all, i was trying to find some help with something i have been working with for many years but just had a thought that maybe i have been doing all wrong the entire time. While it has worked it might not have been correct. So....this is the situation. When i program a 5 axis part i sometimes have to create a random plane to machine from. My problem is that if i don't use zero, zero, zero for all of the XYZ values, our Hass machine has problems running this. For example. In (pic A) the part origin is the front left corner. I want to machine at an angle the back right corner (pic B). Unless i put this at zero, zero, zero (pic C) the Hass will alarm out. I'm sure 'im doing something wrong, however i was self taught many years ago haha Any and all help would be much appreciated. I look forward to learning something, Thank you!!
  4. Sorry for the confusion. This is not for machining. I am inspecting the part with a Faro Arm. I know the 3-2-1 rule and its really just to lock the part in place for proper recording of the measurements. Ill update the title, thank you!
  5. Hey guys, Im trying to figure out a part i have in front of me, usually its easier but for this one i am kind of confused. i have enclosed a pic of the part in question. Datum A is the underside of the part. Datum B is the hole axis and Datum C is the other hole axis. The question really is since datum A is the (floor) of the part, the Datum Origin is the intersection of a theoretical line to the intersection of Datum B and Datum C. Does orientation affect the Datums? For instance the projected line from Datum B to C could really be at any angle. Sorry if this is confusing but if you have an obvious answer to this please feel free to make me fee dumb! haha...i welcome it please. thank you for any help in advance!!
  6. Thanks Corey, i have tried that but its still a no go. Im just trying to not have to delete the config and start over but its looking more likely. thank you!!
  7. Hey Guys, OK random problem here that i cant find a way to fix, so i was hoping someone else might have the answer. I'm using Master-cam 2019/Verisurf. For some unknown reason i have suddenly lost the ability to "select" surfaces or solids. I have the AUTO HIGHLIGHT turned on and SOLIDS BY FACES also. it has always worked before but just stopped suddenly. I know the item is selected by the "selected entities" counter at the bottom but it wont Highlight the item? Any help on this would be appreciated and hopefully its something simple. thank you so much in advance. i should also add that i can select any other wire frame item but no solids or surfaces, and my SOLID selection icons under the autocurser menu is greyed out.
  8. Hi guys, I have a part i'm tasked with trying to build a block for. So far my concept is depicted in the included JPEG. i have also included a mastercam part of what im trying to achieve. So far using this method i get a lot of wrinkles, so if anyone would like to chime in with some advice, it would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!!! the material is .040 O condition SAMPLE PART.x_t
  9. thank you for the help! i figured it out haha thank you
  10. HI All, I am having a hard time trying to get something to work and I thought maybe i could find some help on here. So the long and short of it is that im trying to Best Fit a measured hole pattern to a hole pattern in a solid model however i cannot use the model to align to...just the hole pattern. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance! test.mcam
  11. Hmm...we are all running Quadros but i just found out that this only affects solids i create in Master cam. I didn't notice it because i work out of solid works then import. However the other guys i work with use Master cam exclusively and this was there reason for not using 2018. If i import a Step or Parasolid created elsewhere..it doesnt have the blanking issue so my thoughts are that it is a Master cam issue? What do you think?
  12. Hey All, I have a small issue and i was hoping the masses could solve it for me. This is the Issue: Whenever I blank anything in 2018...the image does not change. It will still blank the item, but it will visibly still stay on my screen until i save and reopen the file. Example...i have a solid box with 4 lines...i click Blank..click on the box..it is blanked..but the image of the solid box stays on the screen. I click screen statistics and it says 4 lines...but no solid. I click un blank and now it says 4 lines and a solid. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  13. Sorry, it never let me say thank you a second time! Thank you for the help
  14. Thank you! that did the trick On a side note because Im guessing that you have some Verisurf experience...would you happen to know what exactly the Dist/Pos. Calc is in the upper right corner of the report manager? Im trying to get True Position for a Hole and this button changes the result quite dramatically. Normally it is on X/Y/Z....However if i change it to another value..it can make or break a part. Thank you if you are able to give me any advice on this matter.
