  1. i HAVE A DELL LAPTOP WITH i7 PROCESSOR 16GB RAM NVIDA M1000 VIDEO, RUNNING MASTERCAM 2017 The problem I see is when I do a file save it takes about 20 seconds to save file , This is NOT a large file at all. But If I turn on auto save after every operation in my config the machine saves right not now NO time lost waiting to save ... But really dont want to have auto save on ... So can someone please explain why this is ? All I can come up with is maybe auto save only adds the next operation to the existing file but dont over write the complete file ... { just my thoughts } I was told its do to having a spinner drive vs SSD drive , thought it made sense till I saw how well auto save worked ... Thanks in advance ...
  2. I'm looking for some other people input... We have a couple hi-speed machines 12000 / 20000 rpm ... But i was thinking about engraving using a single tool to complete top side of inserts using dynamic tool paths that could be ran bodiless (lights out machining) What are the chances of making our own machine ... 24" X 24" with a budget of $10,000. servo's directly to ball screw ,,and NSK Rail Pillow Blocks ... with mach3 controller .... What type of speeds for feed be possible ... I know I could buy 4 around $40,000... But thinking we could build even better machine 4 our needs... any input would be great ,,,, thx
  3. COOL ..... I THINK IT WORKS ...... IT MUST BE BECAUSE assign tools sequentially WAS CHECKED THAT IT DIDNT WORK FOR ME ... TOMORROW WILL BE THE REAL TEST ,,,,,,, THX ...
  4. In have NO problems verifying at all ... It does all ops... the problem I have is that I don't want to have to reassign drills and taps ,reams to the spot drill locations..... I was told by protec this would happen ,,,, i see advantages in using work groups like having all programs in one file ,.. But if I am to loose the ties to my sub location and have to reassign all tools for the next op I don't know its worth it.... these files how 24+ tools ,,,,, time consuming ...... I'mnot sure we are on the same page ....... change recognition would be a great feature to make a new part ... all ops at one time in one file .......
  5. I THINK SHARING A FILE MAY BE THE TICKET .....
  6. I AM USING NEW WCS WITH EACH OP ALREADY ,, SOME ARE SPUN AND SOME FLIPPED AND TIPPED .......
  7. Well I can copy tools from the tool manager from one work group to another ... But the part i miss the most is loosing the link to geometry ... in the past we would make a program for op-1 then rename the file for op-2, then rotate part and re-pick spot drills and the rest of the drilling ops would follow .. this is very simple but i cant seem to do that when using multiple work groups ... what are you thoughts on change recognition using multiple work groups ???
  8. Hey guys I'm lloking 4 some input here... The problem I seem to be having is as followed... using one mcx main file that contains 4 machine groups. these are large parts that need to be spun 180 to complete one side. I complete machine group 1 and start group 2, I would like to use the same tools / order and just re pick geom. If I copy group 1 opterations and paste to group 2 it breaks all ties to spot drill location and must reassign ALL tools to proper sub.... ( pain in the ares !!!! ) If I export the group I get the same result :( .... Any ideas ????? thx I'm using X7 MU2
