  1. Hi Barry, How did you go with this? Did you get it working properly?
  2. Hi Loader, Nice Looking report! and very functional. The predefined fields in mcam that you are referring to, are they the ones that come up when you click to create your setup sheet?
  3. Barry, If you select the machine group name field, and change the path in the datafield element to NCFILE/OPERATION/TOOLPATH-GROUP-NAME, You should get your desired result. (see attached image) HTH Brendan
  4. Barry, You are welcome, and I am more than happy to share! Changing the Machine group name to Toolpath Group name should be possible. You will have to redirect the datafile away from "setupsheet" and into "operation" instead, and this in itself could cause some issue. I will have a closer look at it hopefully later today and let you know how I found the easiest way to do it. Brendan
  5. That's a nice looking setup sheet Jay MCM, The verisurf Gnomon should show up on your activereport if it is visible in MCAM when you create the setup sheet AFAIK
  6. Thanks Jay, I would appreciate that! It's not really something that I am able to play around with at work as we have a fair bit of demand and pressure, and my boss is reluctant of changing the way we do things without solid proof that it is a better way to work. So I will endeavour to learn this at home, and implement it as much as I can through the learning group projects and then I can take start using it at work once I am comfortable with how to use it. I've been working with Matercam for approx. 2 years and I'd like to think that I am far from being a novice, however I guess with things like this it puts my skills a little behind where they should be.
  7. Yeah Jay I don't know how to use WCS properly yet. Its on my list! So atm I am creating new Machine groups for each Setup and Repositioning Stock through Xform STL. I agree with you in that WCS seems to be the best way of doing it.
  8. I use Xform STL all the time with great success. It took a bit to get my head around, but now it works perfectly every time. I Have not had the trouble of it reverting back to original positioning after saving it
  9. Are you machining the chamfer in the same setup as you are roughing and finishing the walls? If not perhaps it is a datum/setup issue
  10. ^^^+1 I encountered this problem early on when i tried to give a machine group and toolpath group the same name...its a no go Sorry posted at the same...ignore me
  11. This is from the X7 SP1 is now available thread
  12. What problems are you having with surface finish flowline? I would probably be trying to use this toolpath. That Blend Toolpath looks quite nice too Kevin
  13. Hi Greg, Does the posted code reflect these movements or is it just a backplot/verify problem. Quite often I see this on my 4 axis horizontal in backplot, but the posted code is sound.
  14. Yeah I just use a standard Drill Cycle, no peck
  15. Lathe took me a little while to get used to. It didn't take long to work out how to create toolpaths, but there are a lot of cool things you can do to tweak the toolpaths and get them running just the way you want. There are quite a few options and I've always found them to be very customisable...have to fiddle with geometry sometimes though.
  16. Hi Ninja, I've never done this before in mastercam either and don't have time to investigate at the moment, but id probably be looking at the stock transfer toolpath under misc ops
  17. If you select the 'dynamic move' button in the start point options, you can locate the start point at any location on your chain. I wouldn't have even thought to rotate the geometry! Just another way to think about the problem! Thanks Colin
  18. Maybe try projecting your geometry and re-chaining?
  19. Did you use the process as I've outlines in my attached picture? I have no idea why start point option would be greyed out!!!
  20. Hi Steve, Expand your toolpath in your Operations Manager and click on the geometry branch. Right Click on the chain you want to change the start point of and select 'start point' from the menu that comes up. Then click the 'move dynamic' button and position the start point where ever you wish. HTH Brendan
  21. Thanks Webby what a great job you are doing for us!
  22. Yeah i figured looking at everyone else's files that i am a bit behind in that way. I've never used multiple WCS before and I hope to learn it a bit more through this learning group. Just set this one up like i would at work rather than trying it because thats sort of the point Also i didnt really take too much time for speeds and feeds with this one.
  23. Hi I've uploaded the idler bracket to the ftp. I havent been able to upload emcx-6 or rar files to the forum section yet but still working on it. just look at the uncle dolan2 file...the first one didnt copy correctly and now i cant remove it from the server.
  24. What material are you working with Bill? We use iscar Multimaster Ballnose for AL and it works great. Id imagine they do it for steels as well (Probably IC900 grade)
