  1. Hi Kovi, welcome to the forum! For some tools the shoulder option does not really apply. it is mostly for tools that have reduced shanks or larger diameter shanks. Try entering different values for each attribute and see what happens. Brendan
  2. If you are not sure how to get there, you can access the mastercam X applet through control panel, just open control panel and it should be one of the icons
  3. get into the mastercam control applet and under the toolpath supprt branch you can enable and disable "refine toolpath feature" HTH Brendan
  4. You could try using the "simplify" option from the edit menu. this will convert splines to arcs. If that doesn't fix it try the "break many pieces" option and select to break into arcs with a relatively small tolerance...This is all if you want to edit the geometry rather than your arc filter.
  5. Yeah, Highlighting all ops and right click, edit selected operations, change nc file name. This will do what your after. I have never had a problem with program number, however I do not change it from default.
  6. That works quite well Kevin! I have never needed to do that, and thus have never thought of it, but that is quite a simple and effective solution. When I used to model fixtures with UG, the create hole option had drill point settings so that was easy enough, but mastercam does not have this functionality.
  7. This can be dangerous ground! If you are experiencing the same problem (different .nc names), what happens when you select all and POST them, is that it wil post all files under nc filename "a", and then post all files under nc filename "b". So you end up with either 2 programs, or you overwrite ine program with the other if manually prompted for filename on POSTING. You can see this will be dangerous if say your roughing and finishing do not post in the same file...dont really want to finish without roughing first...Just a note of caution! ALWAYS CHECK YOUR CODE!
  8. I have never encountered this problem! Could you post some images of your process and problem? and also maybe some specs on your graphics card? could potentially just be a rendering problem. Just to be sure, you aren't projecting the geometry onto a level that is not visible? Also, when you say you have been using work arounds for months...what are your work arounds exactly? Did you have this problem in previous versions of mastercam?
  9. Yeah i see this a lot also...another reason why I only use it for spot drilling
  10. Hi Ninja! FBM I have never used/trusted/had time for...but i guess if an 8 yr old can use it............ I do use FBD To get tool planes/axes for my holes. It works great on 4 axis / 5 axis parts that have a lot of holes!, probably takes me about 3 minutes to go through it and get a result that I like, and that could be for hundreds of holes. Sometimes I have to play around with it a little to get the result I am after, but after FBD has generated the spotting cycles for me, and I am happy with parameters etc, I will just copy and paste to get my peck drilling cycles. I have never used it for any more than this, but there are options for tapping / milling / counterboring as well. Generally I dont rtust things that "give you something for nothing", it seems too simple and nearly like cheating! but it has proven reliable for me! was a PITA to start with, but once i started to understand it, she was apples.Keen to hear other ppls experiences! Brendan
  11. It may be worth noting that not all DMG machines have a "toilet bowl" design...I used to run some DMU80 monoblocks that had the Baxis head rotation. Where I am currently working has some DMU 70 evo's and a DMU 50 evo all with the "toilet bowl" design. I will admit that it can leave you wanting at times, but it does also present benefits that you do not get with other 5 axis designs. I have worked with DMG machines since i started and as such know that they have a lot of weaknesses. I have not been able to work with ANY other 5 axis milling machine, and I am keen to some time. By the sound of it there are better options out there! One thing I will say about DMG tho, are that their lathes are unreal! I used to run a CTX 420 and then later a CTX 1150? beta and they were amazing! besides a few faults lol. The Siemens shopturn that they ship with defintely helps things.Very powerful programming interface for lathe!
  12. I am running X5 and it works, so that may be the difference. I have my main report and subreports located in a folder together on a network drive, but my SSM.xml file is located in the default directory. Whether or not this setup works in X6 I can not comfirm, but it might just be a fault with X6. For my setup i think so long as the subreports are in the same directory as the main report I'm all apples. Let me know if this still doesn't work. I will hopefully go to X6 come the new year and it will be disappointing if this functionality is not there! Might just have to wait for X7 like CNC said.
  13. Maybe they will include this functionality someday! Have you tried modifying the layout of your activereport so it doesn't lose as much formatting when saved as a .rtf?
  14. Hi Bill, The thread pitch should definitely line up, but I have found in general that lathe verify is not as accurate as mill verify for some reason...could just be my settings! Make true threads option is pretty good, but sometimes takes a long while to process the verification on my work computer.
  15. Chris, what doesn't work for you over the network? Our activereports are run from a network location so that all the users here can access them! what problem do you encounter? maybe i can help you work it out
  16. This is amazing! I've been wanting to do this for ages but didn't know how! thanks so much!
  17. Glad it works in X6! I'll look into the manual entry thing and get back to you!
  18. If you are working from 2d geometry you can use the edit>simplify function to fix up splines, or the break many pieces will work in most other situations
  19. can you explain your process of printing your tool list? As in, where are you printing it from? What buttons do you press etc.
  20. Hi Everyone, I have just uploaded my Activereport setup sheet onto the FTP. It is under the setup sheet directory, and is a rar archive called Setup sheet.rar This setup sheet works pretty well for me so I am happy to share it, If anyone has any modifications they think should be included, let me know. There are images in the rar file and also attached to this topic that show how to utilse the features of the setupsheet. My company logo goes on the upper right of the sheet so you could do the same. setupsheet.bmp - General picture of setup sheet 1.bmp 2.bmp 3.bmp 4.bmp
  21. We have a Big Daishowa 90 Degree tool with modular head that we use for chamfering and spot drilling, It is quite a good tool, however it has a 0.5mm flat on the end of it. I'm sure if you took light cuts something like that tool would be ok...304 has always been a huge PITA for me!
  22. Can you back save to an mcx-5 file by any chamce? would be keen to have a look and we arent up to X6 yet
  23. +1 Rotating your setup would be by far the easiest way to do this, however I'm assuming that is not an option If you are looking for a 90 degree cutter.
