  1. I have been having this issue for a little while now, when I cut slots sometimes my cutter comp will engage while the tool is down. When the comp engages the tool needs to make an x and y move. My post is only making an x move and not a y, or vice versa. Here is an example of some of the code that spits out- M8 (BRUSH LONG) M91 ( Air Blast Off ) G00X12.5615Y12.7792 G01G41D2X12.5615Y12.4062F200. G00X12.5615Y12.4062Z1. G01X12.5615Y12.4062Z.3438F100. X12.5615Y2.5625F200. G03X12.5635Y2.5625I.001J0. I have tried adjusting my lead in/ lead out and checking the plunge after first move/ retract before last. I can get it to stop doing this, but I have to try several things and am not sure how to do it regularly. The notch that cuts into the material doesn't show up on my preview im MCAM, which is annoying. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Also, I had a previous post about horizontal milling adn 2 people got back to me pretty quickly, but then stopped. I still havent figured it out, so if anyone can show me how to program an horizontal mill that isn't on a 90 would also be appreciated.
  2. That would be awesome. I just need to figure this one thing out. I don't know if your ever in Red Lion, but if not, I have MCAM on my laptop with all of my posts. I'll buy you lunch somewhere. My email is [email protected].
  3. Do you want a drawing or an mcx? Either way, thanks!
  4. I have been using an agregate to do all of my horizontal milling. Whenever i program it, I use mc9 because thats they used to use at my job. I have since upgraded to x5 and can do my horizontal milling and boring, but when it comes to angles that aren't 90, 180, 270, and 0 I have no luck. I can draw the path, but it comes out to the view that i selected in. Any suggestions for ways around this? I was in a jam today and just physically drew a tool path. Any help or suggested resource is appreciated!
  5. I was logged in on my boss's account on the last posts and didn't get the chance to thank you. worked like a charm. Thanks again!
  6. I am also looking for a post for a weeke. Let me know if you have any luck MR. I will do the same.
  7. I need a post for a Weeke. Right now we use the conversational programming that came with the machine. It takes forever and we have mastercam, so I would like to use it. 1Is there a generic post that I can tweak myself, I can't seem to find one. If you have to pay someone for a post, what is the typical cost? Thanks in advance for any help.
  8. I got the pdf for the art tutorial from this site and I am working my way through it. When I attempted to program the first tutorial I got an error that says "Incompatible c-hooks internal version number. recompile and relink the C hook c:\program files\mcamx5\apps\art machine.dll". I think that I may not completely understand what a c-hook is. Regardless, do I need to re-install the art package or what can i do to get this to work? I thought it may be a problem that I am using a router not a mill? The art package is awesome but its being a pain in the xxxx to get up and running!
  9. Yes I have the license. It was working fine until I actually needed it.
  10. I have the ART tab displayed in my operations manager, but I only have a few selections and everything else is greyed out. In the area where the hot keys are to be displayed all that I can see are 5 empty drop boxes. I had this problem before, but I didn't have the art tab. Is it safe for me to uninstall the art package, then re-install? If so should I use the x5 art then the x5 mu1? I had switched my screen from openGL to GDI, but have since switched it back. I know that there can be issues with that. I have attached a picture of my screen so you can see what I mean. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  11. I just installed mastercam X5 on a new computer. I am having a problem when I attempt to use the selection (highlight?) box. I can draw and do other things but I can not get the box to show up. I was going to tinker through my settings and see if I could figure out the issue, but I hoped someone else had the problem so that I don't accidentally screw anything up. Worth noting- I am running Win 7 and am relying on on board graphics. Thanks.
  12. I agree completely, in fact, when I started this job I had to learn to use v9. I have only been in this field for about 4 years and the earliest that I have used was x2. My problem is that I am using a laptop, so the on board graphics will have to do. I know that they are not ideal, but can they be substantial?
  13. I just use the on board graphics*, would a solid state help? *Graphics Card Integrated 3D graphics Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M with up to 1759 MB of Intel® Dynamic Video Memory Technology 5.0 (64 MB of dedicated system memory, up to 1695 MB of shared system memory), supporting Microsoft® DirectX® 10
  14. I recently got a new work PC with windows 7. I put MCx5 on it an it installed and opens, but once i do that I have trouble. For instance; i can not see the selection window, sometimes if I draw lines/arcs they don't show up immediately, also one of my post processors isn't working. I am rocking 4 gigs of ddr3 RAM and a 2.3 gHz dual core with plenty of memory. Do i need faster? On my old PC I had 1 gig of ram and an adequate processor and everything ran smoothly. Lastly, is there any chance of using older versions of Mcam? I rely pretty heavily on v9 for a few of my machines. I have been trying to phase out of v9 but to keep it as a last resort seems like the smart thing to do. Thanks in advance for any help!
