  1. I don't ever use assemblies for that very reason. I wish all my jobs would use standard setups but the one constant is it always changes. I keep separate holders and tools and make a tool setup as I go. Tool Assemblies just do not work for me at all.
  2. I don't think I could do this any other way. I use offsets g54 thru g54.1p300 with up to 16 or 17 workplanes in a single program. I would never let mastercam auto assign planes because the amount of changes I make to programs hourly would shift and jockey work offsets out of order all the time.
  3. 20+ a combination of hmc, vmc, lathe and mill-turn. Fanuc, Haas and Tosnuc controls. A couple guys here can write code but I do the vast majority of it.
  4. Half the time the linking motion doesn't even work anyway.
  5. You can just do the accurate zoom, reset zoom dance I have had to do since this version of verify came out.
  6. I still don't use models for holders. I just grab a pair of calipers and do some quick checks and save it. Far faster than editing geometry or models.
  7. 3 years ago? I have no idea how it works now? I built my holders 5-7 years ago.
  8. I got burned way to many times in the past for buggy migration wizards so I copy all my files (cnc machines, posts, tools, NO configs) into a separate folder and run the migration wizard on that folder only then rename it all with the version in front of my files (ex: 2023_haas_3x.pst to 2024_haas_3x.pst) then move those files into the correct folders for that version. Every version I redo the interface by hand and I take my time doing it.
  9. I use left and right hand to write all the probe/macro code manually. There really isn't a software package that will write what I need for probing.
  10. I'll have you know I am but 50 years old. Get off my lawn... edit:: I have been doing this for far to long
  11. hmm i think v6 was 96. I started doing this on v5 in 94.
  12. New beast made: edit:: This is in mcam 2023 latest patch
  13. The download link is dead anything new? I just built a beast and I want to throw it through the ringer.
  14. gms1

    ISO 13485

My quality manager is asking because part of the standard is to certify all software that aids in the manufacture of the devices. My reseller is telling me mastercam cant really provide that and it makes sense so I am left wondering how do i certify nc code
  15. Anyone had to deal with this standard? My quality manager is asking if there is some kind of certification for mastercam and my reseller is saying mastercam can't really provide that. Is there some kind of solution to be certified to this iso standard?
  16. I just built a new computer and I keep getting "LtDoTransferBorrowExpirationTimeTooSmall" when trying to check out a license. What is causing this to happen?
  17. Biggest problem i had with the chip fans was on a steel job we ran a ton of parts on a little 20" vertical. It wore the paint off the inside of the machine in a ring around the center of the machine.... kinda funny looking
  18. I just save every setup sheet as a pdf and put notes on the pdf where i need.
  19. Some things don't require modern stuff, hell most modern stuff is just designed to fail so you shovel more money in someone else's pocket to fix it. At the end of the day, a contour is still a contour.
  20. I can't help you with the seat but If I remember correctly v6 didn't have a toolpath manager without an addon that came way late. It was strictly post and append unless he is after geometry. edit:: actually I think the toolpath manager didn't come in until v7.
  21. I look at that toolpath as a little inefficient and unbalanced. I see ramps into material which is nice but not needed when you can enter off the end of the part. The path that comes back to the left side of the part after it runs the different rib shapes has all kinds of different material engagement percentages so you couldn't really speed that cut up because you might be 10% tool diameter engaged then 2 seconds later 60% engaged. Your tool loads are gonna be all over the map with that toolpath. This might not mean much depending on what you are after to make the money. There are times I will climb/convention mill pockets just cause I want it done right noooow. and I don't care about tool life because I have 3 more bodies sitting in reserve ready to drop in when the tool changes. If I am trying for tool life and doing long runs, ya I might tighten up some parameters and manage the engagement of the tool which may make more money in the long run for big production job.
  22. IT is so amazing. I love having to ask permission to delete a text file or change the name of a folder! I feel so secure and happy having to ask permission to do my job so many times in one day! /s
  23. I'm starting to hyperventilate looking at all those icons!
