  1. Profiling ,pockets and a few holes. With a large angled surface on the top and backside.
  2. I have a job coming up to machine some armor plate. spec is wrought homogenous class 1 MIL- DTL-12560. This will be a large run for us at 850 parts. Any tool recommendations would be appreciated. Stock size is 11"x8" x 2" thick.
  3. How about Millturn? Thanks for all the advice.
  4. My company recently bought another company that has a Haas lathe ST 30SSY. I have been given the job of programming for this machine as well as an additional 8 mills. Lucky me! I have the opportunity to go to a Haas class on this lathe and also have the ability to purchase Mastercam lathe. Just wondering what recommendations do any of you guys have. Both or just stick to programming with Mcam? Most of our work is DOD, so not really a lot of quantity, anywhere from 2 to 100 parts. I have strictly been a mill guy up until now. Thanks for any advice.
  5. The foam is is an 8 lb. density. I have 54 sheets of 4' x 8' 4" thick to cut. face and then 3d sides. I found a cutter made by Amana for foam and spoilboards.
  6. I have a job coming up to cut lots of 4" thick foam. Any recommendations for face mills?
  7. Thanks for all the great suggestions.
  8. I would have to buy a holder that size also. So, thread mill would probably be a better option...Plus I hate breaking taps!! Thanks for the advice.
  9. Its a thru hole, so that should be a plus. what would you recommend for speeds?
  10. I have a job coming up that has 3/4-10 2B tapped holes 2" deep, ( 64 parts) and was wondering if anyone out there has done this on a mill? Its a Haas VF-6, any tap recommendations would be helpful, or threadmill advice. Its mild steel. Thanks in advance!!
  11. There is a tab at the bottom of operation manager that toggles back and forth from tool paths to solids.
  12. I have a VF-2 that this happened to a few months back. I was still able to run the program that was loaded in memory, and after a few hours it came back on. Haven't had any problems with it since.
