  1. This is an odd one. On my Fanuc 160i-MA, if I am in DNC and have subprograms at the end of the main program, the controller will acknowledge the colon symbol ( along with the sub number and proceed along just fine. However, if I load this into NC memory and save it to the controller directory, the colon disappears leaving only the number thus raising an alarm when running. What gives with this difference? Also I cannot add the colon into the program in edit mode. Any thoughts??? It would be nice to get the DNC and NC settings to jive.
  2. I have "activated" the program restart option on a Fanuc 160i-MA controller but need to turn on the program restart signal. I am guessing that it is in the ladder logic and have the list of addresses for the controller however what I don't know how to do is turn stuff off or on. I don't have any experience with this. Any suggestions??
  3. In response to James, I do have the ability to search by sequence number. That is not a problem. It seems as if the controllers I worked with had edit capabilities tied to the memory mode somehow. In response to within a thou, I will double check that link.
  4. I have the parameter manual and the area you are referring to is the parameters of displaying operation time and number of parts (4.48) and page 288 falls under parameters of rigid tapping(4.27) so I am a bit confused as to why any of those parameters would affect what I am trying to resolve.
  5. A compression cutter will work fine as stated earlier however make sure that your upspiral geometry on the cutter is less than the thickness of your material or you will be right back where you started. I recommend Vortex tooling but that's a taste thing.
  6. You can use a G83 peck cycle if you like. Most of time when I drill regardless of whether I peck or not I have a spindle speed of about 5-6000rpm and a feedrate of 75ipm. I tend to peck if I am drilling with a forstner bit into hardwood stiles and rails for "tite joint" fasteners and the the material is is over 2" thick as the fastener is usually at half thickness. Mainly oak.
  7. This is an odd question I have been trying to solve as of late. For many years working in machine shops on Fanuc controls (6s thru 18 T an M) I have been able to jump around the program while in memory by going into edit mode, typing in what I wanted to find, such as T10, G58, etc hit cursor dwn then upon finding the desired info go back into memory, press cycle start and resume machining. Very useful if you are tapping 100 holes and your tap breaks 20 holes into a run. Getting to the point, I am now working with a CNC router with a Fanuc 160i MA control and do not have this ability whatsoever. Does anyone know how to get the controller to behave as I have described? Is this a parameter thing? A Ladder Logic thing?
