  1. The parameter you are looking for should be MP7480 I believe. MP7480.x is probably a 3 or 4, whereas it needs to be a 1 or 2. I am not 100 percent on this, but I do believe it is called "fixed and variable pocket coding". Heidenhain should be able to point you in the right direction.
  2. No quote on all but 1 who our buyer had already contacted and they want to go halfway, spin the part 180 and do the remaining half. Glad I didn't quote it!
  3. Trucking thses parts to California would pretty much make this impossible. We barely have enough to cover costs when they thought they were going to be drilled locally. Time is a factor too. I think we have about 3 weeks to machine all 3 parts complete and that includes the deep hole part of it. I believe there is close to 100 hours of machine time per part also being done here. I also don't think the halfway thru is the way we want to go as the plates all butt together and a 6.00" pin goes thru all 3 parts to bolt them together. I was kinda hoping to get them drilled first, and then set up to the drilled holes here when machining the parts to ensure proper alignment. Thanks for the leads gentlemen. All info is passed on to the our buyer as I see it appear here.

  5. It wasn't me, it was our buyer. He has tried everywhere within 7 hrs east of us with no luck. I am passing on any info as I get it. Still no luck.
  6. Passed the info on so far. I did get a no so far from the deep hole folks in Ohio.
  7. Anyone know of any shops that can do this? Material is a 4340 forging. Our purchaser/buyer cannot find someone that will touch this or has the capabilities to machine it. Found one place that can do it, but do not have the crane capabilities to lift it on to there machine. The rough stock is about 45,000 lbs and is roughly 90" x 105" x 16". I've got 3 parts to do with 2 holes in each part. Any help is greatly appreciated!

  9. Just got this today from solidbox . opened a fresh install of x4 and saw it finish crunching in 1:33. Works for me!

  11. Just making a stab in the dark here, but if the cutter has 18 inserts and it is 5/8" wide, you have 9 effective inserts per side when figuring out the feedrate going off of their recommended chip load. Sounds to me like you are doubling the recommended chip load. JM2C.

    Bruce, You might want to skip next year. I checked the farmer's almanac and the weather won't be to good. j/k. IMTS is every two years.
  14. Our engineers talk about a "derived component". Not sure what they do but that is what it is coming from inventor. It is still an .ipt and it is 1 solid. They do this with fabrications for us all the time. hth.
  15. Just throwing a couple of names out there for you. Alberti makes some smaller heads. We also have a very large universal milling head that was an option on our floor bar with a brand name of Emena. Can't find anything on the web about them though. WE have even used Mazak Live lathe tooling heads and made our own mounts for them.

  17. .IDW"s are only drawings, Mastercam does not open them to my knowledge. The .IDW was made from an .IPT (the solid model) or an .IAM (an assembly of solid models, if you have all of the .IPT's to go with the .IAM in the same folder). Mastercam will open these 2 types of Autodesk files. You will need Inventer or inventer view loaded on your computer though.
  18. From main menu > screen > configure. at the top right hand side of the system cionfiguration, hit the screen tab. on the left side of the page is "Use Auto-Cursor in Point Selection" checked?
