  1. Well you are 100% right about Makino machine in your application and if I had my way would push our comapny in the mind sight but since it has been an act of congree to get anything I will have to settle for the Haas VF4SS with the HSM bundle. I can see the future and sorry I feel confident in my ability and where our comapny could go but that is life in the big city. I am in the postion where we sub out $30,000 to $60,000 a month and know of three job we didnt go after that would have neted over $4,000,000 in business for our company. I keep getting told I dont know anything about business but I can promise you this 4 Fadals that are over 6 years old is not the answer. I also think you will find that the G accel and the ability to be at what I considerare good feedrate for aluminum key to be productive. I would also look at the HSM module begin offered by Cimco seem to be doing alot to keep the axail calcuation correct which are also key when you start getting over the 900 ipm feedrate with tooling on the market today. As ecohed in my other thread gald to hear an owner who understands the business of machining as well as the business of business. In today competive market and global reach of our services we need people willing to invest to d othings to make this country eb what it is a super power not a super importer of good and services. 2. Yes you are right it does suck in your case for this to happen espically when I think you purchased this machine on the thought M/C would have this avabile about the time you would need it and then they kinda pull the rug out from under you. I am mostly refering to the builder and not the software compaines. Well I Dont know about Esprit but I do know you can od it with Mastercam just have to go through the dealer and usally at a loss so dont know if it would be worth it. It also might be to your advantage to have 2 recousres at your use. It is just a hope I get lucky enough to run another mulitaxis Machine again. I love them and the challage of doing the impossible. 3. Well Gald to hear and see it and you are 100% right in neededing to get the efficent use of the machines dialed in. Without that you have defeated the puropose of having the machine to begin with. I hope that these programs meet your needs but I was only looking to make a point that if more of the companies making the machien would be more envolved in these needed softwares then more would be avabile. You sound like a great person and fully understand peoples worth and see you and your company going far and doing very well. Sorry to highjack your thread. I though would take 4 or 5 of my most challageing parts and use them for a good gauage of the ability of the programs and well as the posted program I would alos think about Vericut or some other verifaction software all it takes is one majof crazh and you cover the cost of this software. Crazy Millman Peace and good luck in your endover.
  4. Thanks I cant be crazy if I enjoy this right. Crazy Millman [ 10-19-2003, 08:53 PM: Message edited by: Millman^Crazy ]
  5. +1 on that Rekd warm up cycles are very important for the life. I have also seen my share of replacement spindles the biggest reason I get 2 year warranties over the standard 1 year most people dont like to but you put up the condition of a sale on it and most cave. Crazy Millman
  6. Well Jay we could ask alot of the Machinist cutting Carbon Fiber in the early and late 80's for Nasa but since over 80% are dead from cutting the stuff we can't. I have a good friend from around the area and time back and seen alot of his good freind die from it. I made the people mad at the last palce cause they didn't want to make work condition safe to cut it and I refused to put my life and health at risk. Fib-Cote has information on thier website not sure if they cover machining but wouldn't hurt to take a look. Crazy Millman
  7. Well good luck DrewG should find soem good candiates. Just wondering what ou consdier top of the line equipment? Not insrtested in the postion just like to know what owners in the business consider good. Crazy Millman
  8. Well you could also try Ren-Shape it machines easy holds the shape well and allows high feeds and speeds so you dont spend more time making soemthing than needed. Delrin is a good choice but UHMW is the cheap route of having problems machining UHMW use highspeed steel and very veyr postive sharp tools to cut it and shoudl see better results. Crazy Millman
  9. Well sirs I ask you this question. How is possible for people to buy any machine and have it coming and dont have done the research for the software needed to make it work. I would say paste/cut may sound bad but I also ask why don't the people who seel these machine have the software deveoplemnt in place to atleast power them if they are going to sell them. I see this time and time again companies devopleing machien but no real good way to make them do what they have desgined them to do. If these comapnies would invest a little in to someone devolpement who ever the company is prefreable mastercam as well as getting something to put on the market they would be soooooooooooooo far ahead of the game. I remember when the Mulittrun started coming out in the early 90's and everyoen was scrambling to run them. I was doing my teeth cutting on mulitaxis the hard way long code and i got the job done that most ran away from. There are people out there in the industry capable of making these machine walk the walk and talk the talk it is up to your caompany to be willing to pay these people for their talnet and ability to get themselves to that point. I think it funny companies will speand 100,000 dollars on machien then want to pay soem guy $10.50 an hour to make it make millions for them. Untill the reality of true ability and tanlet catch up to them and bite them on the arse will they see the need to either be the devoplers or help put the bill for the devoplment. WE as a country wonder why our work keep going oversea it is not just the cheap wages it also the investment in areas to many money hungry people dont do that helps it go that way also. Crazy Millman
  10. Well I heard of them and thought they were crazy then. I have heard of moving part that needed to be within .00008 but would not even want to think about trying to do it. I was lucky t ohave meeet the guy I did that was from moore and have him wrok with me at the company I was running and I say work with cause even though I was the boss and still am a boss I treat everyone with that type of respect. Crazy Millman
  11. Well Newbie I am the famous one for working in 17 different place in 17 years in Jacksonville. I have only had Mastercam in the last 2 places I worked. I did it all the long way when doing 3d work. I did use Tecksoft, and Gibbs in a couple Places and I almost got in to master 7 years ago at one palce but they laided everyone off and I had only been there one week. I created macro spreadsheet, Autocad 2 modles and alot of Math to get my work done over the years. Of those compaines only 5 now use a cam program 6 are out of business and 4 are in pretty bad shape. I also don't see me going soemone that doesn't have Mastercam if it mean buying the program myself. Crazy Millman Oh think it is great I cant afford to buy a house in this state. A state in which only 19% of familes can buy a home. A state where my tax money will allow illegal people to drive here and get a education. Makes sense to me that people would say it wrong to strike to keep themselves from becoming the working poor yet Wal-Mart only has an average of 27% of it full-time workers having any assitance for health care where as the grocey industry has over 95%. The big three see what Wal_Mart is able to do in the Market with the Help fo the Local goverments in Calforina. I 1000% support the strikers and think if people dont wake and smell the problems in front of them that the big old air bag that is the problem will burst under them all. Again just this old crazy person 2 cents worth.
  12. Ok I have taken this whole section out of MPMASTER: code: # -------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Buffer 5 - Min / Max # -------------------------------------------------------------------------- b5_gcode : 0 b5_zmin : 0 b5_zmax : 0 rc5 : 2 wc5 : 1 size5 : 0 fbuf 5 0 3 0 #Min / Max I then put the preadbuf5 and pwritbuf5 in this in the place I thought it should go. I can get all of these things working good with posts but this HTML I do not know and I really think this is going to need a fancy VB script to send it out register the data then send it back and keep it all in places it needs to post out. I really like this one page format and would really like to get this working. I have put HTML2.SET in the FTP in Text_&_post_files_&_misc Folder. If aynone likes the way it look and want it please feel free to get a copy of it. Crazy Millman Well it goes without saying but I will say it anyway thanks for the help and any guideance you guys can give me here. [ 10-18-2003, 09:49 PM: Message edited by: Millman^Crazy ]
  13. Would have to define the prapidbucket is all and make it be some part of soemthing for the post is all. I think that might be possible I have still not figured out if you can make up variables or if you are limited to certain one in the MP language. I will read up on it this weekend and see what I come up with but maybe Mick, Roger, James, Rekd, Jay, or one of the other more talnest post guys know me still in that learning stage of the works of things. 14. hey what is snow seen it abotu 3 times in my whole life 2 times in Florida and once when I was in Penn doing some work on a contract bases. That is one thing I loved about Florida alot of sun and no-snow. Crazy Millman
  15. Yeah used alot there also for Radoms and sub stuff. I did the frist prototpyes for the new minisub being devopled by the military. Crazy Millman
  16. Well good luck hope you make it. Crazy Millman
  17. CMR if you go to the thread about port tool drawing custom tools was covered. I dont know if mastercma takes the feature into account when figuring toolpaths but might be worth a shot. THe best thing I got for reiliving tools is a old conventinaol lath and a die grinder wit ha green whell on it by hand not the pretty method but soemtime pretty just is not needed. Crazy Millman
  18. Well you can create a grid and do a traslate between point ot move thing liek you want. I also use to nest things and would use the translate part of modify in mastercam to achieve that. Then you have to option of using tranform which will take a base operation and transform it as many time ansd to as many places as you want. I have used it very well and like what it does you can even do it as a sub method if you are worried about files sizes. CRazy Millman
  19. Yeah I figured that and if I can hook up up with copies of my post you let me know I burn you a cd of all I got even my 5th axis so you got one incase you ever get to that point one day. Crazy Millman
  20. Well we might be getting a VF4SS so if we do then I real be in that boat and will be going after the best tool for the job. If HSM is then I will go after it. I had a toolpath that i figure was going to take about 1100 hours to cruch with Mcam with hasm it took about 30 minutes so that might be all the proof in the pudding I need. I think 400 ipm is not problem in alot of the material we use and having a machine as well as a software to meet that need it key in today ever growing gobal market. I have people coming to me all the time wanting 2 week tradintional parts done in 1-3 day turnaround either the machine have got to get fater t omake this happer or we have got to have 20 machines to meet that need. I would rather have 4 faster machines capable of good quality work than 10 slow machine I feel are boat achors. Crazy Millman
  21. oh I just love this stuff. Get a vacuum and get a paper jump suit and a goor respiator. If you are allowed to run it wet do so to keep tools cool and dust done will not need the above items it dry you will or itch like a son-of-b>tch. I also recommned burrs like use on a router. Grainger carries about the best but Mc master carr carries them also I would get the center cutting kind and they plunge pretty good. I have finish 2d counturs on this material with that style and had good results as far as finish and size goes. If wanting to use insertes Cerment all the way holds up the best but do run it dry. Hope that helps oh yeah about 300 sfm seems to give the best results. Crazy Millman
  22. Thanks and dont tell anyone but I might have got my point across and could be getting a VF4SS with bells and whistles I know it is not a Makino but any step in the right direction is a victory in my book. So I might need your help getting a post dialed in Rekd plus I think you would get a kivk out of seeing one run. It will also have a 4th axis on it. Crazy Millman fingers crossed.
  23. We share everything and all decisions and I trust here and she trust me uncondintonal I would not have it any other way. Crazy Millman
  24. Thnaks Robert I apperciate the sharing of that. Crazy Millman
  25. Yeah the debug is soemthing i am glad to see in the post and have that ability. I like it when soemone puts a devopler tool in there software to make it easy to see where the problems coem in. There are also different varialbe you can use in the value code: # -------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Debugging and Factory Set Program Switches # -------------------------------------------------------------------------- fastmode : yes #Posting speed optimizition bug1 : 2 #0=No display, 1=Generic list box, 2=Editor bug2 : 30 #Append postline labels, non-zero is column position? bug3 : 0 #Append whatline no. to each NC line? bug4 : 1 #Append NCI line no. to each NC line? whatno : yes #Do not perform whatline branches? (leave as yes) it is in the bug2 position set the value to -30 and it post out all variables so you really see what all is going on.
